To me spam is just easier to store and doesn't go bad as fast as Bacon does,, I slice it and fry it up like bacon and enjoy it ..
ON a side note, when My daughter was in this week she was telling me that the old Hawaiians call spam " long pig". it goes back to the days when some of the islands were cannibalistic and when introduced to spam by the US troops, they liked it and said it tasted like human meat.

Spam is something I get in my email in-box.
Bacon is something I enjoy on a BLT and for breakfast.

I like Spam, but prefer bacon! I fry the entire package and freeze what we don't use for another time.

We use Spam quit a bit. Slice it up and fry it along with Tobu sliced and fried over rice. Make a soup with it. Cube it up along with cubed potatos, onions, carrots, and whatever else we want in the pot. And serve it over rice.

The cannibal connection is totally bogus.
" As Sacks notes, the Spam-craving Pingelapese had no tradition of cannibalism. More important, Hawaii, epicenter of Pacific rim Spamophilism, has been more or less cannibal-free since the arrival of Christianity in the early 19th century. The popularity of Spam among Pacific islanders can be readily explained by the scarcity and expense of other types of meat and the lack or unreliability of refrigeration."

Winco stores carry a very good bacon. We break it down into serving amounts and freeze it. Nuke to defrost, then nuke cook it. Tastes great.

When growing up we had a choice of Spam or fried bologna for breakfast. Bacon was for special day breakfasts. Eggs fry best in about an inch of grease.
