Hi there, I've considered doing seminars on RV'ing at a couple of RV parks close to where I live. I've talked to other campers who think it would be a great idea for me.

I'm just wondering if there are any of you out there who have conducted seminars who can share with me some of your experiences and recommendations so that I don't waist my time or the time of the attendees.

I've been to a number of seminars at Samborees and 'The Rally' so I've got a little flavor for what goes on in front of the crowd (though I could always use more in that department) but I would also like information on what I should know more importantly about what goes on behind the scenes such as my own preparation that I should do as well as what I should expect when it comes to doing presentations in relation to RV parks or even events like 'The Rally' and the like.

Thanks in advance for your input. Happy camping! - Eric -

#2 No questions until the end and stick to it, unless advertised as interactive

#3 Know when to end it.

Good Luck

Its all about timing.
An effective speaker will be mindful of his timing - speaking slowly or fast when necessary and varying pitch & tone.
Making oneself interesting is the key, and yes, difficult to learn quickly.
A really, really good speaker could make reciting the phone book interesting.
Best of luck.

Practice, Practice, Practice. Do it just like you would at the place your going to deliver it. I used to have to do a lot of presentations for large groups and a lot of times I'd use slides or a laptop that projected on a large screen. Well when your sitting there reading something you miss things, when it's up on a large screen and you're talking about it, things/mistakes can leap out at ya.
Other then that what Twomed and Briteskys said

Just so there aren't any miss-conceptions... For those that have conducted seminars in the past, do the rally organizers normally pay the presenters a fee, or do the presenters rely on sale books or products for the compensation from their presentations?

Thanks for your input! Happy camping! - Eric -
