Hi everyone! We hope you all had a great summer. Ours here was not exactly good beach weather. We spent a total of 9 days on our beautiful beach- and many of those were only for a couple of hours. Oh well, will talk to mother nature & see what we can do about next year. We have been busy working on the addition to our house. It’s not yet finished, but there isn’t too much left to do in the spring when we get home.
So this is the 1st entry of the season. We are anxious to get to our new casa in Zihuatanejo. It SHOULD be finished when we arrive. Sanin says it’s almost 100% that it will be ready for us. Good grief. We are leaving home on Oct. 14. We will vote here in Grand Marais, stop for our flu shots in Selkirk, and keep on going. It will be quite a challenge to get our “stuff” into the Honda! Missing the RV already! Paul did a calculation to see what it would cost to go with the truck & RV with this year’s gas prices. He thinks about $1500. one way. He figures with the Honda it will be about $350. We’ll see! At any rate we are looking forward to a simpler way of travel. We’ll try it & see how we like it this way. We plan to cross into Mexico on Friday the 17th, visit with our Mexican friends Arturo & Patty & kids on Sunday the 19th in Leon. We need to stop in the Patzcuaro area to order our dining room table and arrange delivery- one drawback of not having that big truck. We should roll into Zihua around Tuesday or Wednesday, the 21st or 22nd. We hope this winter won’t pass too quickly. We are expecting some company- daughter Andrea & grandson Taylor (9) are coming for 2 weeks at Xmas. Dave & Diane will also visit Zihua again in January. Who knows who else will join us? All are welcome. Of course, we are also looking forward to seeing our “old neighbourhood friends” at the RV park. So now everyone is up to date & knows our plans. Please keep in touch during the winter. Will send lots of pics of the condo & the sunny beach & of course the RV park! I hear it helps with the sanity. I will also post road info as we travel. Hope to meet more of you this winter; we have made some wonderful friends over the last 5 years- friendships that began on this forum. Our best to all of you, Linda & Paul

Hi you 2! Good to hear from you. Great pics! Our patio at El Maglar will be taken over by our good friends Anna & Dieter- we are happy about that. Thanks for the kind words. We will be just down the beach- a 2 minute stroll- we will probably still sit in front of El Manglar to be with our friends- or maybe poolside at our place- or maybe....... who really cares? We are in Wichita tonight. Will cross into Mexico on Friday & arrive in Zihua next Tues/Wed. We won't be hard to find if you want to come calling. Have a good trip.

Well we arrived in Zihua last Monday evening. The trip here, crossing at Laredo, was pleasant & uneventlful- just the way we like it. Our condo is amazing! We made a very wise choice. We are nesting & settling & shopping & buying furniture- just as it should be. The RV park at El Manglar looks great. There are just 2 full timers there, but reservations are full for the season- the way it was when we left last April. There are often short term openings for those who are travelling & just passing through- and there is always the chance of a long term cancellation- so don't just give up if that is where you want to be. We travelled our usual route past Monertey, Saltillo (stayed there overnight), Matahuala, San Luis Potosi. We spent 2 nights in Leon while visiting friends, then past Morelia & went to Quiroga (on Lake Patzcuaro) to order our dining room table/chairs. Our little Honda was full to the roof, literally, & then we bought our Mayan Calendar table & tied it to the roof. Paul thinks we are now Mexican! There is a wonderful new toll road from Salamanca to Morelia that cuts driving time by 2+hours. The roads were all in great condition. Previously rough areas have been re-surfaced. It was an easy, pleasant drive. So if you headed this way- fear not!
