Bill, my newest phone IS a Dare. Not sure it's all that great a phone. It eats batteries and heats up when on a 15 minute call...gets VERY hot! The scroll feature is a little tricky when searching for contacts and it gets a little annoying always having to unlock before answering a call. And NO COLOR! BOOOOORING! Yes the new Blackberry does look neat, but then they'll want a data plan and now I'm thinking I just don't need such an add-on when I already have the EVDO aircard.

I have the Dare, I love that phone, you want a color case, paint it, or get a 'skin' for it
mine does not get hot, take yours to a corporate store, make a phone call and when the phone gets hot hand it to 'service tech', most likely they will replace it for you,
the new BB STORM looks to be a very nice device, i hope i get to test one.
maybe you should get one of the ORANGE GzOne Boulders that are dust shock and water resistance, they make a very good phone for outdoor use, but you may find the OLD style wap browser & mobile web to be BORING
and yeah, i like gadgets too, i have a bunch of phones, for my (2) line FS plan

Now Wiz...you're not making any sense. When I say "boring", it's like watching black and white TV when color TV is out there. Are you telling me in that instance I should just paint the case and instantly it will be enjoyable?
Guess I'll never figure out what an "orange GZONE Boulder" is, either. But thanks for your comments on the heat thing...better get back into the store and see what might be wrong with my phone.

The BlackBerry Curve Verizon has will keep up with an iPhone with no problems in the cool dept. IMO and blow it out of the water in the functional dept. I can do anything my friends can on their iPhones; only I can do it all with reception to go with it!!! I've got a VZW aircard just collecting dust since I've now got my Curve tethered with my laptop as well. One less thing to keep up with.

I don't text, pict, flix or any of the other costly passions that cellular providers have devised. I suppose that make ME boring in your universe. I do however think iPhones are cool.
That said, Verizon consistently beats AT&T in consumer satisfaction, if that means anything to you.
Except for the iPhone part,I agree.I use the phone to make and receive calls,if I can do that from most locations I don't need any other bells,or blings

This amazes me, I can not comprehend how a swiss armyknife of a phone can be boring. I can't even imaging paying $80 or $60 a month for something that is basically a communication device.
I am not married to my phone, to me it is a device to communicate simple voice messages to important folks in my life. Bling means nothing to me, no need for games, cheesy ring tones, internet on a 2 inch screen, text messaging, GPS and so on.
I can think of many other things in life to do with $80 dollars a month for extra gadgets that you pay for.
I think it is terrible that I pay $35 a month and still have a darned voice mail box that is next to impossible to access...

Pretty interesting thread we've got here. And we've managed to identify two distinct categories of people. One is the old fogey who still would prefer his old dial-up if that were available...tethered to a cable at the park. Good enough to talk to someone only and get the job done. The other type is the modern day techie-guy who wants all the bells and whistles just 'cuz it's cool, irregardless of whether it makes economic sense. Each of you can evaluate which category in which you belong.

Can I be in the middle? I would just like my cell phone to work as well as my old Motorola brick.

Hey Bill...those were something back in the day, weren't they? Remember the bag phone? But I can remember having to move up on a hill or around a corner to make mine work..how 'bout you? Still, they were revolutionary, weren't they? And now I(we) sure expect a lot more of our phones.
