How does the truck handle with the 915? I had a 97 F-250 and almost got a 915 but got the 835 instead. Now I have a 05 F-350 and want a bigger camper. We should have gotten the 915 after all

I'm in the same boat!! I have a 835 and wish i would have got the 915.
The widow in the front is a option. You can get it if you want. At least it was when i bought mine.

Someone needs some Torklift frame mounted tiedowns...

That's a neat opinion. Way to read the thread title.

I am sure he is happy with his happijac's and new Lance. Great combo.

Thanks for the kind words. I eventually want a F450 four-door diesel, but I will also keep this truck when the time comes to upgrade. This truck is a 1997 F250 Heavy-Duty 4X4 and averages 11 mpg but has incredible power with the 460 engine. I've only done a couple of small mod's to the air intake in an attempt to get better gas mileage. It certainly didnt need the additional power. Very soon I will be upgrading the exhaust to compliment these mod's. It'll lite 'em up....I've only tried it once and that was enough just to see. Afterall, I like to take great care of my stuff and not abuse it.
The truck handles and hauls the 915 very well with 80 psi in the Firestone air bags. I have yet to install my Rancho 9000xl's; waiting for a day off and time to do it without any interuptions, like yard work! I also want to install the Firestone dual-gauge air compressor kit, if only for convenience.
For now I consider myself a happy and grateful newbie to truck camping. There's a lot of great folks on this website and out there to share and learn from.

We hauled our Lance 990 on an F250 with the dealer installed Happijac tiedowns all over the country for 14 years and never had a problem. We upgraded this year to a '97 F350 diesel dually and I'm really glad we got the big camper. Still using the Happijac tiedowns.

Edit: Also, on the front cabover window. I think there are a couple of reasons it's an option. For one thing it's an expense since it needs to be safety glass which also adds weight. For another thing, unlike the old days, kids don't normally ride up in the cabover as it's generally frowned upon as being unsafe. Of course I remember, as a five year old, STANDING on the front bench seat of my dads metal dashed Ford Galaxie as we hurtled down the undivided roads at 60 mph!!!

If you are referring to the boxy looking area inside the ladder....that is where the generator is housed.

Now you have a bad a$$ rig! I wish ours looked like that! We love our 915, and have had a lot of fun so far with it.
