What is the general consensus on the washer/dryer combos? Wife is wanting one, but I have read pros and cons. What brand is good? Are they worth the $$$$.

mrbuck50, if you go to search and type combo washer/dryer you will get lots of comments about them. This is my only help, we are plumbed for one, but do not have it! Not fulltimers, and the rv park laundry is really nice in our park in the winter..Dona

Very small loads, very long washing/drying time. If you have room and want laundry facilities, go for the stackables.

we have the splendid washer/dryer combo it works very well you can put 12 lbs of clothes in at a time they make a vented and a nonvented unit we have had both I would buy the vented unit if you are at all handy it should only take an hour or so to hole saw the hole and put the vent cover on the out side and connect the flex vent pipe on

We are full time and we have one and we use it alot. In fact due to the load size and drying time involved, we do a load of laundry 3 days out of 4 unless we are dry camping. Some folks have one and never use theirs. You have to understand that a combo unit is never going to be like a separate washer dryer in a stick/brick home.

I wanted one so I didn't have to use an unknown laundry every time we moved locations. If you are going to be at the same campground for several months that might not be such an issue for you. I didn't like the idea of always wondering what someone else had washed in the machines right before us. Plus we had been part time for six years before we went full time so I had already had the experience of ruined clothes because of bad heat in a dryer, someone washing dog blankets right before I washed our clothes.

If we have been drycamping for a week, then I sometimes go to a laundromat to get caught back up though.

No matter what DO NOT get a ventless one. They DO NOT WORK! However, the vented models work just fine. If you keep the loads relatively small they do a good job. Load a day and no more laundrymats. I understand that Splendid has a new model out that allows for larger loads. That would be the one to get. Or get the stackable units from places like Sears/Maytag. People that have then like them a lot.

I have the vented unit. Use it all the time. Works very well.

We have a GE Spacesaver stack. The washer is a regular size tub and will wash a normal load. The dryer holds a normal load of light items and takes about 45-60 minutes to dry. Heavy items, like jeans, jackets, sweats and towels, I divide into two loads to dry. I can wash and dry at the same time. They do a great job. I hate landromats.....

First, we're fulltimers. After nearly 15 years without one, we have a W/D combo, vented, and DW loves it. No lugging laundry, waiting for an operating machine after you clean out the lint trap and deposit a bunch of quarters and no transfering clothes from the washer to the dryer, but it is slow. Figure with fuel used to go to the laundry, etc. that ours will pay for itself in about a year and a half.

On our first trip with our new Splendid vented combo. DW is truly a happy camper. Do lots of small loads and stay ahead of the laundry curve, and you will love it. It also doubles as a massage device when spinning, but only for a few minutes. The dry feature means never forgetting to put the wet laundry in the dryer. The combo also allows for retaining use of the closet and save a hundred and some pounds.
