This sounds great. I have an old dish that we use while camping and it sure could use sprucing up. This also sounds like something a good artist could do at at rally. Now the question is just what do I paint on mine? White with black spots to match the dog?

Glossy, semi-glossy and metallic paints make the dish antenna extremely shiny, thereby increasing reflection of the signal to the LNBF. This causes signal loss and will disrupt satellite TV reception."
this sounds backwards to me but I guess they know what they are saying?
I spray paint day glow orange "stuff" on the back of mine to make it less likely to walk away.

It sounds backwards to me also and I don't think "they" know what they are talking about. I can't believe it's going to increase the signal and overload the LNB.
However if you use a paint that is too shiny, it might reflect too much heat to the LNB causing a problem there.

OldScout - wouldn't sticking a decal on the dish be the same as putting on high gloss paint, it would affect the signal.

This is rf, not visual light spectrum. The rf will not see shiny versus dull. Paint it any color you want except using metallic paint. That is if metallic paint actually has any metal in it.

This question has come up several times on the satellite Tv forums. Flat paint seems to be what is recommended.
If you do a Google search for paint and satellite dish, you'll come up with a lot of hits.
