I have a Sat. receiver and a bat wing antenna in my 5er. When I install the Converter will I need an AB type switch to go from antenna to sat. or will the pass through type converter pass the signal without the AB switch?

I guess it depends on the box
On mine I used an A B switch.

You should have a push button to go from sat to antenna,like I am sure you use that type now...
Just put the converter box in line with the push button switch..

If your TV has other inputs besides an antenna input, you could use the TV as the AB switch.

Well... The answer is "Yes"

You do need an A/B switch

But if you have a converter with pass through it is built into the converter

So your hook up will look like this Current hook up

Wall plate=======coax cable=======TV

And your final hook up will look like this:

Wall plate ====Coax====Converter====Coax===TV

With analog pass through

If you get one with OUT pass through.. E-mail me for the work around, that does involve an external AB switch and a splitter.

I don't know if all satellite receiver have the same function, but my Direct TV receiver has a jack that you can plug your antenna into and when the receiver it turned off, it allows you to view regular broadcast off the air signals. When its turned on, it receives only satellite signals.
