I just returned from a little grouse hunting/color tour. I noticed last night when I run my TV with the Honda 2000 I get a great picture. Later that night after I put the honda away I ran it off the inverter and I get lots of squiggly lines poor reception. Is this normal or do I have a cheap inverter. The TV is a sharp 19 flat panel LCD 35 watt the inverter is a 400 watt.

You may have the inverter too close to the TV.

Dirty power from cheap inverter.

Full Sine Wave inverters give you clean power, but do cost more.

That is what I was guessing, I never used it for the TV before. I normaly just ran the electric shaver, charge cell, and computer batteries.

I use a "cheep" inverter, a Victor 400. I run a Sharp LCD with the inverter within 1 foot of the TV with no problem. I can see NO difference in inverter power or shore power in the TV's picture. High end inverters are more critical for using computers, however most other electronics work well with the cheep inverters. I would check your battery/s state of charge, wiring setup and try again. Also, its possible the inverter is defective. Point is, it should work ok for a TV

How close is the inverter to the antenna lines? And what kind of TV do you have?

I have an old Modified Sinewave inverter, but do not have any problems with interference as I ran RG-6 cable for all my antenna lines and kept them as far as possible from the inverter. The TV is a flat screen and has an internal power converter to go from 110 to whatever internal voltage it uses so I don't get any interference from the inverters "noise."

This set up is in my TC so everything is close. The wingard ant wire comes out of the same box as the 12 volt inverter supply. The Tv is mounted on an arm bolted to the same cabinet. The inverter is sitting on the little TV shelf just below. The wires are most likely intwined.

Let me guess.. MSW inverter right.. What you describe is common with MSW inverters.

A true sine inverter.. Well.. that's what the output of your HONDA is

Our problem was that the wires to the little "cigarette lighter" plug (where we plugged in the 400w inverter then the TV) were just too small. The TV would play but if you turned on a light or ran the water pump the low voltage alarm would start beeping. This was very irritating!

Recently we wired a different inverter directly to the batteries and the problem seems to be solved.
