I noticed yesterday watching my hockey team, the CNN HD logo is etched into the lower left side of my TV. It's very faded but it's there. ( Watching way to much CNN news )
It is a 5 year old Sony rear projection.
Does this happen with the new plasmas or LCD's?
Thanks, Gary

Burn in issue used to be a problem with all plasmas. No as much now with the newer ones. It still can happen but not as likely.

LCDs are not effected by the the burn in issue.

It happens less on todays plasma's and DLP's. Our 6 year old wide screen HD TV has a slight mark at outer edges from watching to many narrow screen HD programs.

Plasmas are prone to image burn for images that do not change...your CNN for instance.

Ours has a 'cleaning' feature that if you do get an image burn, it will reduce it and mostly eliminate it. It takes the TV about 90 minutes to clean the screen.

An LCD TV manual will discuss the burn in issue specific to each model. You can download a manual from many locations.

It's discussed in my Samsung manual, and it is a concern on LCDs. It's one reason Directv will change its screen display to a moving logo when you're tuned to XM radio.
