Are you pressing the button on the remote or the button on the console (I was thinking that the remote's battery may be weak)? Are you in freezing weather?

Gary,
Thank you for the reply.

We have discovered the problem.

We had just moved the motorhome out from under the RV Port to wash it and had the generator running and also was running the engine which hadn't been started for a while.
The awning will not work as long as the engine is running.

Question, on the control box is there a toggle switch.... Toggle it and see if it works.

Now.. That switch is the wind-sensor disable switch

A&E uses two wind sensors depending on the model year.. One is a "Lighthouse" like thing (in fact they call it the "Lighthouse") on the roof of the MH. IT SUCKS BIG TIME.

The other is a motion sensor in the end of the awning arm.. I know nothing more about it so will say no more about it.

I had so much trouble with mine I just leave the switch in the DISABLE position all the time.... Part of the prolem with this though is it also seems to disable the ignition interlock... Should not, but did.

Now there are things about A&E I really like..

But the controller is not on the list

There are things about Carefree I like (The wind sensor and controller) However the awning is not on the list.

In short.. You can not win

Glad you found it. I ran into the exact problem and it was an interlock connector buried way under the dash. You wouldn't have liked dogging that one down..
