What is making our Onan 5500 start on its own??
It happened for the first time (that we know of)two nights ago. We'd just turned it off and reconnected the shore power from our friend's house. After about five minutes, the generator came on all by itself! We figured it had never really shut down...???
Now, this morning, it has happened twice. We're hooked up to 15amps from our friend's house. We have a newly installed RV Electrical Management System -- could this affect it?
The Onan came new with our '08 Jayco Designer in December of '07.
I called Cummins Onan about it. They can't give out tech support over the phone anymore and directed me to their website from which I'm having trouble getting any help.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

It sounds like your unit is probably still under warrentee. I would look up a nearby dealer and have them look at it.

You'll need to read your manual, but I am guessing that part of your new Energy Management System watches for any draw that nears that available (in your case 15A house power) and automatically starts the generator to pick up the slack. Sounds kind of cool.....Brian
