Hey guys
Just bought new Trojon 6 volt batteries 1 year ago. I plugged my trailer in at home for 3 days.Trailer showed 3/4 charge. Went on a 3 day trip this weekend and my batteries were dead after 1st night. I even ran my generator for 5 hrs, trailer showed 3/4 charge but went dead during night. I dont know if its my batteries or trailer that is not working properly? Where do I start to find out what is wrong? Also does it matter they are 6volt batteries and not 12 volt batteries in regards to my trailer charging them? Thanks

are they full of water and are all the connections good...

I need to add water to mine every 6 weeks or so...

my Trojans are real old and will last 3 or 4 days without charging, even with light use of the furnace...

you said the lights worked... were they nice and bright??? if it is wired wrong they will light on 6V just won't be very bright...cooler...

You need to be able to check the voltage in your batteries. They could be low on water or you could have a bad battery or even a bad connection. Using a volt meter to find out what they read individually and jointly. Once they are wired correctly you actually don't HAVE any 6 volt batteries any longer, you have one BIG 12 volt so nothing special about charging them. Just don't try to charge them individually using a 12 volt charger.

The batteries run the fan but don't supply the heat. Do you have propane?

Here's a link to a pretty darned good means of keeping on top of your batteries condition. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Produ........tk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=battery+tester and it's not too expensive either. I purchased mine from Walmart for around $12.00 a couple of years ago. Just plug it into any 12 volt outlet or directly to the battery bank or individually using clip on outlet, and it'll tell you the voltage of that battery. Here's what it looks like.

Obviously is the battery gets low and doesn't run the fan fast enough to activate the sail valve it won't allow the furnace to light and you wouldn't WANT it to because without enough air flow it would overheat and start a fire.

You possibly need a better converter battery charger.

If you have a manual you will find that your charger if it is the same as my 1996 Wilderness that I once owned. The charger only charged at 2amps and a shunt if placed across on the end of the converter would do 4amps. At 2amps it would take almost a week to charge those batterys

With the 2 x 6 volt it would be wise to step up to a PD 9225 with wizard pendant or some thing similar. I cannot seem to find the web site, but do a search PD 9245 on this forum.
