I can't see in point in subscribing to our local paper. It is overpriced and does not have a whole lot to say. I usally do check out the online version to see what is going on. About the only one I do buy is the Sunday paper because it has all the adds, coupons and the new job announcements.

We do not subscribe to the paper, but rather choose to read it online each day. You can post comments after stories, much like what we do on these forums. Only, the comments can be a lot more ugly and names are thrown around, unlike what we post here. Today there is an article about a local minister resigning from one of our larger churches. There was a story 6 months ago concerning the same church and minister. He resigned under pressure then, but was persuaded to come back. Well, there are 24 pages of comments tonight on today's article! I have never read so many mean, back biting comments. This is by no means an unusual thing. In fact, whoever moderates the posts for the paper let a lot of trashy comments get by. I thought that some of our posters here are pretty harsh sometimes, but they are angels compared to the posters on the newspaper.
Yup.

I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

I look at the local paper and several others. I don't read the comments or post any.
Ah, the Record-Candlelight, I remember it well.

That's why you need a laptop. Just be careful with the joystick.

I read the local paper online and it is my opinion that one day online newspapers will take over the written papers.

Because people read the online versions without paying, the hard copy ones are disappearing. It also means that the staffs of the newspapers are being laid off, and the reporting is getting worse (at least for our local paper). In fact, it has gone from bad to worse to gawd awful. We read the hard copy of our morning paper at dinner so it doesn't ruin our day. DW has to know what they are programming the local population.

Our local paper has an online version, which we rarely read. If I really want to know what is going on locally, we have a terrific blog for our area, The Mayor of Claycord. It has the same kinds of comments that others have noticed, but he will moderate some of the worse.

I read our local news online every morning and don’t bother reading the comments anymore, it’s a waste of time.

I have a tough time just reading a couple of forums I use to enjoy because of the idiotic regulars posting just for the sake of posting. Having fun and goofing off is one thing, but “always being there” and jumping in to say something stupid or to put people down became a real turn off for me.

Makes you wonder what their ‘major malfunction’ in life is.

Even though things here have been frustrating with the moderation at times I keep coming back day after day.

It must mean I like this place and the members…
