Does anyone know if I could make omelets and freeze them for future eating?
I ask because my son had a Jimmy Dean frozen omelet when he was helping his girlfriends mom set up her classroom and really liked it. So I got him some once when they were on sale. I tried one and they are good BUT the sodium content is sky high. It got me to thinking that maybe I could make omelets and freeze them but I can't find anything on it.
So I have come to you expert cooks for advice.
Thank you,
Janice

I'm betting that you'll got a lot of answers both ways.
For $1, you could try it...

Would you warm it in the microwave? I make a lot of omelets, probably one per week, and I believe it won't taste very good warmed up; but I've never tried it.

Yes it would be warmed up in the microwave. The Jimmy Dean ones are heated up that way and except for the fact they are too salty for my taste they are good.

Duh !!! I hadn't thought of just making one and trying it, that is a good idea. Or at least I think that is what you mean by "for $1.

Try it on one, see what happens. If it works, you're good to go. If it tastes terrible after re-heating, don't ever do it again!

I deliver to many restaurants and hospitals. I see premade frozen omelets at the hospitals and institutions all the time. They use a steam tray but I'm sure you could microwave them without a problem.

My Mom gets frozen dinners instead of Meals On Wheels. She gets one with a ham and cheese omlet and loves it. She warms them up in the mocrowave. She says it is one of her favorites.

I think you should make three omelets and freeze them. Try one the next day, try one in a week and try one in a month. See the difference, or if there is a difference.
