RE: rv show prices

I wish others would do as Dutch Oven Man did. While dealers have to make a profit it stay in business, no dealer is going to pass up a buyer who is willing to overpay.
It always pays to do your homework!

RE: blackberry curve 8530

I have a Blackberry Curve 8320 with T-Mobile as my provider. I can teather my laptop to the phone, using the phone as a modem at 115 kbs, which isn't broadband speed, but it isn't all that bad. The cost is something like $20 extra a month for unlimited use. I think the total is $59 plus tax, which includes 300 minutes. I bought it at Costco. It works quite well.

RE: Leveling a refrigerator

If it is comfortable to walk around, it is level enough. If you want a more precise method, buy one of those bubble things carpenters use, and if the bubble is at least partially in the circle, you're ok.
As others have posted, if you're moving, it doesn't matter. If the frig is off, it doesn't matter.

RE: Some people do not like snowbirds

We winter in Yuma where the population grows from 200,000 to over a million during the winter. Except for some farming, the area has an economy based the winter visitors, and almost everyone is very appreciative. There are a few who don't understand how the bread is buttered, but they will learn.
I do have to compliment the locals for their patience in tolerating elderly out of state drivers who make many, stupid mistakes. They are easy to spot, since they have out of state plates and tow bars on the front of their cars. Maybe that's why so many visitors are still alive at the end of the winter season. (And to think they drive huge motorhomes on the open road.)

RE: New 2010 Cummings Diesel Engine

The ISL is a improved version of the "C" block, with a new style head, injection system and turbo. While the new injection system was designed to meet emmission standards, the overall engine is a well proven design and should be trouble free.
Hey, for over a year I misspelled Cummins before a friend, who doesn't even own a diesel, corrected me. For some unknown reason though, everyone seems to know what a "Cummings" diesel engine is, so what's the point in correcting a poster?

RE: adding electrical circuit

Patchmein has it right. Just because there are two outlets protected by separate brakers, it doesn't mean the service to the post is any higher than the maxium amperage of the highest breaker, or 30 amps. It's not 50 amps.
I would suggest to the original poster, and anyone else wanting to add additional electrical service, is to run a heavy duty exterior wire from another unused post to your site. The RV owner could install an external male connection in an all weather box on the outside of his coach and wired directly to a new outlet inside. The outlet could even have four plugins to run as many appliances as the amperage would allow.

RE: Anti-freeze expansion tank.....

My chassis is different than yours, but I also have an expansion tank that leaked and needed replacement. I called the manufacturer of my chassis (Spartan) and they sent me a new tank. Perhaps your chassis manufacturer could help?
For those not familiar with expansion tanks, they are made of metal and are under pressure. The radiator cap fits on the top. They are not the same as the overflow tank, which is normally made of plastic.

RE: Brake Buddy vs. Roadmaster

After several of our friends had problems with the "box" type that is activated by initeria, and fits between the seat and the brake pedal, I ruled out that type of system. Apparently, they had problems with the box staying on or not working at all.
We went with the Roadmaster 9000 and it works well. I would have gone with the M&G, or another system that fits under the toad's hood, but our Hummer has a braking system that can't use that type.

RE: Yuma, AZ Campgrounds?

Try Shangri La RV Resort on North Frontage Road.
Most of the newer parks are going to be in the Foothills, east of downtown Yuma. Most of those right in Yuma are older. You'll have a lot of choices. There must be over 50 RV parks in the area. The local paper suggests the population of the area goes from 200K to over a million with the winter visitors.

RE: 2000 HR Admiral 34E - Is this a good deal?

You can expect 6 to 8 MPG, but that will depend on how fast you drive, etc.
The price is too high. As Gale Hawkins suggested, $15K to $22K would be far more reasonable.
Check PPL Motorhome sold list for prices of similar rigs.

RE: Wholesale vs low retail

I assume you're talking about the figures used by NADA in their publication.
As others noted, if you go to the library, they should have the printed copy which will show all three figures. The "wholesale" price is generally about 70% of "low retail", but that can vary. NADA doesn't use actual sales for their figures, but instead uses a sliding depreciation schedule to estimate values.
Look up PPL Motorhomes in Texas. Their web site shows sold units, including date and price. Compare those figures with NADA and you might be surprised.

RE: no electric to dash or engine

While the battery cables may seem to be tight, you should check with a continuity checker to see if they have a good contact to the frame, and the frame to the negative post on the battery. If you don't have a checker, just take the connection apart, clean it, and put it back together.
Believe it or not, faulty grounds are the cause of many electrical problems.

RE: Wal-Mart Road Atlas

Wal-Mart buys a bunch every year and when they're sold out, you have to wait until the next year's edition is published. We try and remember to buy ours in the fall.

RE: won an auction for a Verizon USB760 modem

Yep. You don't have to "waltz", but you can call Verizon. Don't know about a non-contract account, but I bet if you find the right salesperson you might find a pre-pay account. They have a lot of "deals" that are not published and only offered when a customer threatens to leave.

RE: Cummins 8.3 and Allison Spare Parts List?

Fuel filters (actually, a water seperator and a fuel filter), one or two gallons of engine oil, and maybe a gallon of transmission fluid. I think you'll find this combination is about as reliable and maintenance free as any engine/transmission ever made. Just do your preventive maintenance without fail.
Focus on your tire's air pressure and age. Carry a set of tire chains.

RE: 3 coach 12V battery connections

If all of the batteries are 12 volt, then all of the positive posts are connected to each other and all of the negative posts are connected to each other, and the coach's positive wire connects to one of the positive post on one of the batteries and the coach's negative wire connects to the negative post on one of the batteries.
If you're using six volt batteries, then you connect the negative post of one battery to the positive post of the second 6 volt battery. The coach's cables connect to the positive on the first battery and the negative cable to the negative post on the second 6 volt battery.

RE: water pump replacement

I installed the Extreme model and I think it was well worth it. It's quieter and doesn't pulse like the less expensive model. I also have an accumulator but I don't think it's necessary with the Extreme.

RE: Other than Roadmaster & Blue Ox, who makes Base Plates?

A local hitch installing firm can and probably does make baseplates. Our local firm is Tork Lift, and I know there are others.
Good luck.

RE: trailer electrical hookup

I think you nailed it. A slightly higher fuse should do the trick, but lower amperage bulbs in the light fixtures would be a safer alternative.

RE: Are There Any Web Sites JUST FOR Holiday Rambler Endeavors?

I'm not aware of one, but that doesn't mean much.
I would suggest contacting the local chapter of the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club in your area and attend a few meetings as a guest. You'll probably find several other Endeavor owners who would love to share info with you.
Next, attend a ralley sponsored by a chapter and you'll meet quite a few other owners. We attended the last state rally in Salem and then the Monaco "Welcome Home" rally in 2008, also in Salem. Monaco didn't have a national rally last year but I hope they have one this summer. You could also attend some of the rallies sponsored by one of the chapters in Western Washington. I know of several Endeavor owners who normally attend all the Washington rallies.
