RE: Mice droppings in heating vents and hantavirus question

I am pretty sure they are getting into the trailer through the duct work that goes into the basement to heat that area. Once I get this all cleaned out, I will put a screen over this duct to keep them out in the future.
I really appreciate all the tips.
Thanks.

RE: Mice droppings in heating vents and hantavirus question

If you can be sure the mice are gone, then wait a week and do the cleanup - bleach, soap and water - use gloves. The virus dies off after a few days per CDC site. Also, there have been 19 total CASES in Idaho since SNV was identified with 6 deaths - not 19 deaths in the last year. It's a pretty rare disease. I am sure many, many people in Idaho have mice in their homes, RVs, etc and don't know about it and never get sick. Still, once you know, you should take proper precautions to safely eliminate them. They carry more than Hanta too.
Thanks. I will definitely do this.

RE: Mice droppings in heating vents and hantavirus question

There were 19 deaths last year hear in Idaho. A neighbor of my wife's parents died last year from it in South Dakota. I don't think it is contained to any one region.

Mice droppings in heating vents and hantavirus question

I have a HUGE amount of mice droppings in my heating vents. Do I need to replace the entire heating system? I know the hantavirus is spread by air and I don't want to turn the furnace on and infect my family.
Is there a way to clean the vents without replacing them?

RE: Honda EU200i Leaks fuel when transporting

I swear this happened when these generators were brand new, but maybe I am wrong.
It sounds like some people have the problem and some don't.
Do you think cleaning the float will fix these problems?
Maybe I need to replace the float and spring?
As a last resort, I am tempted to install a small, inline valve in the overflow tube which I can turn off when I transport. Anyone know where I can find something like that?

RE: Honda EU200i Leaks fuel when transporting

I took them down to the dealer and he said the gas was leaking due to pressure changes in the tank. I only had 1/3 of a tank and when I got home, one of the generators had leaked a little gas out of the overflow tube and the trip was only 5 miles. I guess I am on my own now.

Thanks Dan. I will definitely take them to the dealer and have them serviced.

RE: Honda EU200i Leaks fuel when transporting

I have the cap closed but do not have the tanks entirely full.
I have noticed that when I shake the unit to simulate a bumpy road, fuel will come out of the overflow tube.

RE: Honda EU200i Leaks fuel when transporting

That is true, but I am trying to determine if this is normal behavior or not.

Honda EU200i Leaks fuel when transporting

Both of my honda EU2000i generators appear to leak fuel from the overflow tubes (Not the drain tube) when I am transporting them in my 5th wheel. After I get to my campsite, they sure smell.
Since both of my generators do this, it seems highly unlikely that it is a float valve failure so I wanted to see if anyone else was having the same problem before I drag them to the dealer for repair.
