RE: Video download on my computer

Most temporary files are automatically deleted when you're through with them. You need to install the free "Real Player" which allows you to permanently save streaming videos to your hard drive.

RE: Microsoft Flight or Train Simulator

MSFS latest version's graphics have come a long way from the wire frames of 25 years ago on my first computer. It's an excellent program which can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. I got the Saitek X52 flight control system (joystick and seperate throttle) with it which makes the simulation a lot more realistic. I've never seen the Train Simulator.
Here's the demo for Flight Simulator X so you can try it out: Link

RE: AAA roadside service...feedback from owners

AAA doesn't have the Class A RV experience of CoachNet or GS ERS. Do a search on this forum and you'll find lots of posts about AAA sending out wreckers that were too small to tow a MH.

RE: US cell phone reception on the North side of the Great Lakes

Don't use a cell phone or cellular modem north of the border unless you have a special service plan. I had T-mobile and had no roaming indications on my phone or computer when it automatically switched to Rogers service. I'm still fighting a $3600.00 bill.

RE: Which states parks offer 50% off with Golden Access/Age Pass

The Golden Age Passport is honored wherever the Washington & Oregon State Recreation Pass is honored.
Where did you find that info? I could not find any mention of this on either WA or OR state park web site.
Several years of travelling through Oregon and Washington is how I first learned of this. It is not accepted in ALL Oregon and Washington parks. Why some do and some don't is beyond me. The state web site reference is: Link Scroll down to "Senior/Access Passes" question 24.

RE: I have a Class A already, why do I want one of these too?

The best setup I ever saw was a Prevost pulling an Airstream Interstate.

RE: King Dome conversion??

It depends on which King Dome system you have. The older models require use of a Diagnostic Keypad to switch satellite configurations. Find a RV tech that has that keypad and knows how to use it. If you don't switch configurations, you can still receive the Dish satellites, but it won't default to them. The newer domes allow you to set the satellite mode directly through the controller. King Domes come from the factory defaulting to DirecTV.

You'll need a heavy duty tripod like this one:Link It has to be able to take a 2 inch outside diameter post to fit the slimline dish.

Your proposed system will require a cell tower signal to call out. Why not use a cellular modem in a computer with a temperature sensor. Something like this: Link

RE: USAA

USAA is my bank, my insurance company, my stock broker, my florist, my jeweler, my car-buying service, and my travel agent. They are not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. They haven't disappointed me over the last 40 years.

RE: Topsail Hill SP

How many state parks in this country have landscaped RV sites, swimming pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, and 3.2 miles of beachfront?
I don't have any problems understanding Topsail's popularity.

RE: XM antenna

Like me, you have an Airstream with a 40 degree windshield which allows the standard XM antenna to work quite well on the dash - mine does. Someone with a 90 degree windshield would have to look at running theirs through a roof vent.

RE: Florida Cold

"Cold" is relative. I'm parked in Northern Florida where it's 36 degrees this morning and plenty cold for me. I just saw a guy from Michigan walking down the road to the showers in his shorts, a short sleeve t-shirt, and flip-flops.

RE: remote control through plexiglass???

You can replace the floating wood panel in a door with black plexiglass - just make sure to get the type that transmits infrared.
Or you can get the DirecTV rf remote and not worry about the door.
