RE: New Duramax #'s out today

Good News for Affinity

Affinity refinances $144M in debt
Ventura-based Affinity Group, which faces nearly $700 million in debt payments in coming years, closed a deal for a new $144 million loan on March 3 to refinance debt due at the end of this month.
Affinity Group is the owner of the nations largest network of recreational vehicle and outdoor networks, magazines and clubs, as well as Camping World, an aftermarket R.V. store with 75 U.S. locations. In December, Affinity Group announced it had received a $70 million private equity investment.
Affinity triggered a credit-rating downgrade in August when it missed an interest payment and has been in talks with creditors.

RE: Lance 1181 vs 1191

I like the 1181 over the 1191:
Bigger bathroom
Larger Slide
More floor space
Larger pantry
Huge basement storage
Larger Tanks

RE: Forgot to check your TC height?

They spend a lot of money putting up multiple cameras and nice signs. How about raising the bridge? 11'8" bridge on a busy road seems like an accident waiting to happen.

RE: Duallies vs single

We headed out of town for the holidays, camped in the Sierras, eventually ended at the inlaws in the SJ Valley.
Took the camper off so the wife could use the F550 DRW to Xmas shop. Thought she was crazy since I didn't see a single parking spot anywhere . . . it was crowded and lots were traffic jams.
When she returned I asked how it went, she said great. Being a very surprised I asked how that could be. She said when multiple people lined up behind a car leaving they seem to back off when seeing the F550. Vehicles racing to open spot seem to heed to the F550.
Guys . . . is my wife can manage parking the truck in the busy shopping malls during Xmas and comes back with a smile on her face its hard to hear this whining about "they're too big to park at a mall."

RE: replacement water pump

How do you "dial in" the pump? Is there an adjustment somewhere?
Screw adjustment on top.
Never messed with mine, worked great out of the box.

RE: replacement water pump

Love the Smart Sensor 4.0!
No problems, extremely quiet, no more surge, wife can use sink while I am in shower without melting skin.
Variable speed allows pump to provide more flow when needed. A toliet flush in the middle of the night goes unnoticed.

RE: Camping in the in-laws driveway for Christmas

Right on Zig!
We just got down from the Sierra's, now we camp in the in laws driveway for three days. While all visiting relatives crowd indoors we have the luxury suite in the yard.

RE: F450 2008 DIESEL OWNERS need your mpg

I think you'll be happy with that truck.
Here is some food (or diesel) for thought.
Let's compare two examples; my F550 with 4.88's gets about 12mpg unloaded, my '05 Chevy 3500 with Dmax was getting about 14mpg.
If you were to travel 15k a year and bought your diesel at $3 a gallon with my Ford it would cost $3,750, the Chevy $3,390 . . . that's $435/year or $37/month. The difference wouldn't pay your cable bill.
That's if you're driving 15k a year, for me it's not a daily commuter so the difference is much less.
In my opinion buy the truck that does the job safely, or consider a Prius and a hotel.

RE: F450 2008 DIESEL OWNERS need your mpg

For an imported truck (considered as new !) the DPF (or the urea system ) is compulsory to respect the European standard
No Urea systems on Fords, just DPF canister.

RE: F450 2008 DIESEL OWNERS need your mpg

You need to out whether a French version of the truck uses the DPF. If not your looking at about 2mpg better then one made state side.
