A lot of good solutions and I think most of us have had cooling problems now and then....The worst time is of course Summer., especially if you live in the south like here in Tucson...I also run a small fan, situated behind the frig, just inside the cover from the outside...Mine is a tight area, so a small fan was necessary..It does help, but how much is hard to tell...One reader says to place a couple of bags of ice to help it cool., Good idea, although I just freeze a couple of milk cartons w/water and this does help...(This is prior to heading out, night before)..When we do leave, I again place a half gallon of milk in the refer thats frozen (At least partially frozen,) stays cool all day....I think the secret is opening and shutting the door often...People tend to think their TT refer is like their home refer and use it as such...There is a BIG difference...

Gas pressure is measured in inches of water column.
11 inches of H20 = 0.3974 PSI

I recently had the same problem. The fan helped but properly adjusting the gas pressure from 8 to 11 inches did the trick. It only takes a few minutes. Later! Frank
How did you do that?? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's how to adjust the regulator
Remove the plastic cap on the front of the regulator. Beneath this is the adjusting screw (a large plastic disk that screws in or out)
If your pressure is lower than 11 w.c. turn the adjuster in (clockwise) until your manometer reads 11 w.c. with the appliances running. If your pressure is too high, turn the adjuster out (counterclockwise).
If you need instructions on building a manometer, let me know or search the web "Make your own manometer".
Never pass up a chance to go somewhere

I have a friend that is a RV tech. He stopped by after work one night and adjusted it. I knew how but didn't have the gauge. All the info is in the book on the fridge that came with my trailer. There is a 1/8" NPT port in the side of the LPG solenoid valve. Screw the plug out, screw in the test gauge Lock nipple, remove the spring cover on the LPG regulator and adjust in or out as needed. Mine has a plastic nut that takes an allen wrench. Screwing in increases the tension and pressure. (most regulators/relief valves work this way) He said that they do a lot of them especially on RVs that travel a lot of rough roads. The regulator spring is very light and a little touchy to adjust. I am going to buy a gauge so I can check it now and again. Later! Frank

Hi
I took an old CPU fan from a personal computer with the heat sink still on it ( Most CPU fans are 12 volt) an wired it into the light inside before the switch that way I dont have to change batteries. I dont know if it made much difference. I put it in when
I bought the camper...I do know our fridge works well in Texas.

Wow, what a great group!!
Thanks loads for all the information.
Our first TT (just last spring) had a 3 cu ft refer
and it proceeded to freeze our lettuce and tomatoes on
the first couple of outings.
Even with the temp setting near the low end.
I think we finally turned it nearly all the way down to
2 or even 1 and it just barely stayed above freezing.
TT was too small so we traded up last fall and the new one has
same type refer but it's a 5 cu ft.
This one will make ice OK.
It will keep our Klondike bars fine (Very important!)
but the fresh food area just barely keeps 40 deg.
Even at the highest setting of 8 or 9 it's just 40.
Actually it's 40 no matter where we set it.
I'm going to try several of the fine suggestions found on
this thread.
Baffle placement
Gas Pressure
Add a fan to heat coils
I may add an interior fan as a last resort.
Once again, this is a GREAT group!
Thanks so much!
Peace!!

Dan Our freezer seems to work much better than our fridge so we use it to our advantage. Since we are not full timers yet, we gave up on water filters and we just drink bottled water. We keep a few bottles of frozen water in our home freezer to give the Rv fridge a little boost when we first get started. We will then keep rotating frozen water bottles from the freezer to the fridge. The frozen water bottles help to maintain the temp when the door is opened a few times.
We also move both our Pop and water bottles from the pantry to the freezer and then to the refrigerator. There have been a few close calls on cans of soda I have a Radio Shack wireless thermometer and monitor the freezer and fridge temps.

Probably a long shot, but my fridge started to act wierd, work greats some days and awful other days. I finally found the problem, there is a twisted piece of metal that hangs inside the flue. I had rusted away to nothing. After I replaced this the fridge worked great again for years. The piece is a baffle and is required in dometic fridges for proper operation.

I recently installed a fan above the fridge coils. The fan is the same one used in the range hood. The link below is a picture taken from the roof above the fridge. Later! Frank
