I went to look at one yesterday and am thinking it over. I saw it with the slide open and not closed. I am wondering, now, whether it would be possible to get into the unit with the slide closed during a quick stop for using the restroom or for my dog to sit in when on the road (sits on the sofa anyway, so that is probably not a problem). Can someone who has seen or own one help me with this?

Strange you should ask that question, I just happen to look at a Lance Max 981 yesterday, I was looking for 1181 but the guy didnt have one on site. But yes, you have a valid point, we did open and close the slide, and when the slide is closed , like forget using it, you can squeeze your way thru sideways to use the head, but dont plan to cook and or use it .... The 981 is the same as far as width and slide is concerned, just the over all length is different from the 1181 regarding your question.. I am also conducting purchase research, please keep us informed on your progress. Thanks

Thanks for the comment. I suppose this also means that there is no floor space for storage of things either. Maybe you don't need it with the big pass-through (1181) and underfloor area.

We just ordered the 1181. Yes you can get to the head with the slide in . . . but you better be holding your breath, turned sideways and have the spare tire on your truck and not around your mid-section to make it.

My wife and I had to laugh when the sales persone explained how you can make into the bathroom with the slide in . . . it's true but the inside of the bathroom now has the most available space in the camper.

Honestly who is going to do much more than use the head without extending it to begin with. It seems like a fair trade-off since you can extend the slide from the doorway in about 30 seconds.

I figure I don't have to worry about someone parked next to me at a restop when the slide extends, becuase with my own bathroom I won't be at the restop.
