RE: Running Toddler

I concur with Eurocamper.
And for further reassurance that you are doing the right thing to protect your child from falls when and if people give you nasty looks at Grand Canyon, etc, ck this book out:
Over the Edge: Death in the Grand Canyon.
Fascinating read.
Two years ago a 4-year-old girl slipped away from her parents and fell hundreds of feet to her death at Grand Canyon. Over the years Yellowstone hots springs have claimed the lives of seven young children who slipped away from their parents.
I think leashing small children for their safety is perfectly reasonable.

How to remove toxic caterpillar toxin from tshirts?

Hope this is the right forum section for this. Need to get Caterpillar toxin off of two shirts.
We were camping if Florida, near Tampa, and a caterpillar fell on the back of my husband's neck. Thinking it was a twig or something, he brushed it off. It left a toxin on him that cause stinging and welts. Later in the trip another caterpillar (same kind) attached itself to a camp chair. After it was gone (hours later) my husband sat in the chair - and got more toxin on him and and a second shirt!

I want to throw the shirts out, but he is hoping they can be cleaned. I dont want to put them in the washing machine (paranoid - i know) without knowing more about getting rid of the toxin.
I haven't been able to identify the caterpillar inline. It was small, pale sunshine yellow and had a few black spikes and a small black "stripe" on body. It does not look like the fluff beige caterpillar I've seen on web sites.
Anyone camping run in to this before that knows how to clean the toxin off clothes? (or good caterpillar id sites?)
Thank you for your help.

RE: Nearest CG to Napa/Sonoma in Calif?

We stayed at Skyline Wilderness Park. It is nice if you are looking for something with a bit of nature. Skyline, if I remember from a few years ago, sits at the bottom of Napa Winery area in Napa. It is easy (but not quick) to go over to Sonoma from there too.

PS - If you are looking for a winery that is family friendly, try Sterling. It has a tram ride to top of hill where winery is located. $20 adults for tramand tasting, $10 for under 21, under 3 free. (It depends on your kids ages and demeanor, of course. Some kids may have too much energy to be at a winery. Mine went to: Sterling, B.R.Kohn, Ravenswood, and a few others. We skipped busy times and "fancy" wineries.)
