RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Hello to everyone! :) It's getting cooler here. I didn't check the weather this am. Next week will be around 0 and there's talk of that four letter word! We got frost so there goes the tomatoes. I brought all that I could in and dehydrated them. Time now to think about cleaning out the flower garden.
We got puppy last saturday. Man she is a spitfire! :E
11 weeks; 3 lbs and no bigger than a lb of butter. She had never seen grass until I brought her home. It's like watching a buzzed rabbit in the backyard. I send the Shih Tzu out to retrieve her back to the door. Poor guy; he takes a lot of abuse from her. 1 cat is not amuzed at all, the other, he's taking it in stride. Between the animals and their toys I'm walking an obstacle course. My life is full and fun.
All the fall meetings have started up so life is becoming hectic.
Just what you need to keep ya young.
My thoughts and prayers are your way Cheryl.
Take care all

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

It's a beautiful 66F here. My kinda weather. I'm watching the neighbors accross the street get his roof shingled. I'm a great arm chair supervisor. Yes Jim I'm still getting the new furkid. We pick her up this saturday pm. My house will be full (almost :W). I'm so excited. Right now all you can hear in my house is me yelling ALVIN. That cat is going to drive me crazy. (okay, maybe a little more crazy). He's nuts today.
Wore myself out yesterday attending a MS seminar for peer support and facilitators. Then on top of that lending my ear to an needy sole.
Can you say lazy boy recliner! That's going to be the extent of my time for the next couple of days. I know it's tough but the rewards are worth it.
PPPPSSSSSTTTT! I made a pitcher of Alabama Slammers. It's hiding behind the microwave. Have a glass if so inclined.
Have a safe one.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Well I don't get to do this very often so here it goes!;)
It's 79F however with the humidty it feels like 84F.
Blue skies and no breeze.
I think you're right Jim. You sent a tad too much warmth up here.
I'm trying to bottle it up for the winter. Knowing my luck with my
hands I'll drop the bottle and break it :S
I'm glad to hear you're all resting and taking it easy.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

SNOW!!??!! That's a bad word. It was 80F here yesterday and we're looking to have that again today. Man are we having strange weather! I can go outside in the morning but by the afternoon I'm stuck inside with the a/c. I hope you're feeling better Jim. The DH is sweating away in this heat working on my GF car.
We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary last week. We just had a nice quite dinner out. The time sure flys when you're having fun!
All is going well with our little rescue Shih Tzu. We're now 100% housetrained; learning new words and obedience is coming. Oh; the great news is he's learning how to play. I haven't done too much except harvesting tomatoes as they turn red. Well I guess I'll make some coffee and do a little crocheting. It's too early to get the house awake and going for the day.
You take care. Have a great day!

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Yeah it's going to be 80F here tomorrow. We're getting July in September. We should be out camping.
Darn cutworms are in my tomato plants and I found that it's slugs that are eating away at my flower/hosta plants. Those things are gross! The farmers here are complaining that there are a lot of cutworms this year.
My DH taught me how to ride a Honda 350 years back. We were at the lake and we had a good size yard. I was doing okay. He then told me to go as fast as I could and then at the end of the yard step down hard on the pedal next to my right foot. I asked him why and he just said; do it. So of course trusting him I did so. Well the back tire swayed back and forth on me and the bike leaned greatly to the left along with me. Insert curse words here. He told me great job now go ride the bike. I never did get my license. My DB bought a 86 Yamaha Virago 1100 and threw me the keys one day when we were at the farm. That was a pretty big bike for a little thing like me. What the heck; I had a blast. I surprise myself sometimes.
DH thinks I need something a little bigger for buzzing around camping and hiking. My scooter just doesn't cut the bill. He likes using it to take the batteries and equipment down to the boat but he needs to make a few trips; it's foot platform is not all that big.
He thinks I need a Kubota RTV1100. Now we will get one either one of two ways. Pigs will eventually fly or we are going to win the lottery. OOP'S, you have to buy a ticket for the latter to happen. :S
Hope everyone is having great weather and health. Take care; catch ya later.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Sounds like every one is having a good time. :C
Life is going to get a whole lot interesting around here. I got a desperate plea today to take in a 3 year old retired champion Shih Tzu. As you know I'm getting a new puppy in 3 weeks. :)
Normally I would have said no, DH said no, but I've got a person crying on the phone and a 9yr crying in the background. My heart was breaking.:(
I asked if the little guy was 100% housebroke and I got told yes but....:R So my DH brings him home and he went straight into the tub. He was a tad rank! He wasn't abused but sadly neglected. I don't let him walk around the house unless he's tied to me with a lead. Housebreaking 101 engaged. We also have to learn a few commands like sit, down and stay. Okay the cats aren't too impressed but one is warming up to it as he's bigger than the dog!
The cats are going to get a real wake up call when puppy arrives. Housebreaking 101 with puppy and obedience training. I think I may be in trouble!

RE: A Dogs Story

You know, whether the story is "real" or only real in the imagination of an author, I still enjoy it just as much and wish I had the talent to write. I envision stories in my head, but never put them on paper. The author was able to put a picture in my mind, and isn't that the dream of any author, whether the story is "real" according to SNOPES or not?
So true. I still needed to get up and get the kleenex box.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

I was thinking of getting a bedsaver but we didn't. We never had a problem with the new unit but when DH went to move the old unit for our nephew; let's say it's nice he's an autobody tech! :S
Kiss the sun and paint my tomatoes! I think I'll get to eat one this weekend; finally. I've been getting weekly pics of the new puppy; can hardly wait for Sept 26 when we drive out to get her. It's an 8 hour drive round trip; I think we'll just get a Motel for the night. A little too much work to pull out the 5er for a quick turn around trip.
My DH keeps warning the cats of what's to come. I'm afraid their cat door won't keep this little one out like it did our pyr. Looking forward to all the antics that will come from 2 cats with a new puppy! I'll have to supervise, the cats are bigger than the puppy will be full grown.
Alvin will think "It's moving;it must need killing".:E
P.S. Sorry about the link not working. I can't seem to get it to post; to bad it really is nice.
Take care everyone

Howdy up2nogood, pleasure meeting you. :)
It's overcast today, ugh! I think summer (did we have one?) is over.

I loved it. Wanted to share it with you all.:)

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Hey thanks rosie, I wouldn't mind a few degrees. My tomatoes would love it and I would too. :)
It rained again this am and they say thunderstorms for this pm. :(
The farmers won't be too happy.
Well we finally picked the puppy and her name is........Lily Bethena Rose. Lily for everyday. I'm going to start knitting the little one a sweater for the upcoming winter.
It already feels like fall in the morning; geesh! I love olives. I'm going to check it out. I doubt they would ship to CA though. At least I can make my mouth water. I see by the clock it's nap time. Take care all. Catch ya later!

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Just checked the temperature and it's 59F. :R It's been raining here since Thursday. I have lots of tomatoes they just aren't turning red. BILs dog went home early. They came back from they're holidays early as it was raining; no chance of getting out on the boat for tubing. The cats seemed to be okay with the dog this time. The oldest one just kept reminding the dog it was HIS house. It was fun to watch. I took her out for runs with my scooter, she loved it.
Our new little one won't come home until the end of Sept. DH and I are now down to business of the name. I'm starting to compile projects for the winter while I can still get out on the scooter. I think winter is going to come early ( I hope I'm wrong). DH is out grocery shopping right now; I have the heat on in the house! :( Well I'm off to play some spider solitaire before hitting the sack. Take care everyone.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Good morning everyone! Hey Jim, I know what you mean about the sleep situation. I'm trying to be quiet; even the cats are sound asleep :R
Took my 4 wheel scooter out to the store today and boy did it act strange. I'd give it a little juice then it would just dead stop on me. I tried shutting it off and on; this didn't seem to have any efftect. It almost stopped me in the middle of traffic :E
After I drove it for awhile it acted normal. Me thinks it should have a check-up. I'll have to put it on the DH's honey-to-do list.
Well it's 57F here and calm. I was just outside with a coke. It's getting late "OOP'S" early so I think I'll put a pot of coffee on.
I have too much to do today to try and sleep now. There's always tomorrow.
Have a great day everyone.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Morning. Another night of not sleeping. I'm up surfing; watching movies and knitting baby booties. I think after that I'll knit some wrist warmers. Rosie I need to get my sewing machine out and sew up some new catnip toys for my boys. I took one over to the cat I'm sitting for; she thinks it's great. I try and spend a couple of hours a day with her but I can tell she's missing her family. I was out roaming around town today on my scooter. I get great mileage on a single charge; I need some way of tracking it though. All it has is a guage to let me know how much of a charge I have. I wonder if CAA would help me out if I run out. :B
Well time for another movie. Take care all.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Happy Birthday Jim; OOP'S I think I missed it by a day. I'm being a little different from Jack and staying "29"
It's not bad out here but we've been having rain showers over the last couple of days. A great music opera of thunder but nothing serious came out of it.
I start cat sitting the neighbors cat on saturday; she's 14 so I'll just go next door and spend a couple of hours with her each day. My "Boys" would run her ragged here. I start doggy sitting in a couple of weeks for my BIL. Not a bad dog but has terrier in it so the cats get a good run. Last time she was quick to pee in the house when I wasn't looking ( she's 9 ). We still had our Great Pyr then so I'm hoping this time will be different. I'll have enough of that when puppy comes. :R
I love puppies but just not the housebreaking part.
Have a good one everyone.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

I've been taking it easy for the last while. As usual I over did things when the weather worked with my condition. Also I'm I little impatient when it comes to getting things done. Right now it's 73F out there. I'm okay with this temp; mind you a little cooler isn't bad either. Thanks for thinking of me rosie for the extra temps. Do you think you could bottle some up for me for the winter?:B
Well July 9th we heard we'll have a new female Maltese puppy. She won't be ready to come home until Sept 26. I haven't picked a name yet. The DH told me it doesn't matter what I call her but when I pick one; nope not that one. :h
I have company coming from out of town this weekend. They're bringing me goodies from my favorite deli. Yummy!!:)
Hope the weather is all good for everyone.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Morning everyone. It's a beautiful day. I'm just finishing up my morning coffee. I'm going to get the scooter out of the garage; load it with my large pruning shears and drive around the block to get to the back of our fence. Our neighbors garage is extremely close to our fence and it needs some pruning. I'm the smallest one and only one who can squeeze in there to do some pruning. I might try and give that whirl this am. The DH will be going to the tree dump this weekend so I'm trying to make sure he has a full load.
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Later...........

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Nice to hear all went well rosie. I hope your back gets to feeling better redzz. At times they just make those tires too close to the ground. Been busy doing a little of this and that. They say it will be 68F today. May be a good day to play in the garden.
DH and I were out yesterday and I picked up a couple of DVDs to keep me amused. "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet" the orginal "Jungle Book" and "You Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx". I couldn't resist they were $1.67 each. It's still a little damp outside so I think I'll put my feet up, pop one in the player and do a little knitting.
You all take care. Catch ya later...
