RE: Fogged Windows - Possible Fix

Making progress. Found someone who does this type of work on residential windows and knows of someone who is doing just RV windows. He will get the phone number and get back to us. Thanks for all the helpful replies. And to the guy who wants me to throw a hammer through all of my windows or something, maybe you shouldn't make your drinks quite so strong.

RE: Fogged Windows - Possible Fix

Thanks Rich, I have heard of Suncoast and even contacted them. The problem is I am in California and they are in Florida and I am not retired. They do have an arrangement with a dealer here who will remove the windows and ship them to Suncoast. The problem is I would have a motor home sitting without windows for who knows how long, and with the freight and everything, it would probably be close to the cost of just replacing the windows. Now if Suncoast (or someone else they license) were in Arizona, they could be a nice vacation for us. Especially during spring training. :)

RE: Fogged Windows - Possible Fix

The only question is how to keep it clear after defogging. The broken seal is what caused it, and probably from vibration. I would think vinegar would clear it, as the fog is mineral based, from evaporated water. The sealing probably has to be done all around the perimeter to insure it is complete, but a vacuum to remove any remaining mosture could be put to the last opening before sealing it. It is worth trying on one window to test the procedure. I would research it further, with a window expert, as this problem is not new and must have been fixed many times before. This is not unique to RV's as it happens to slidding doors that are subject to bangs when opening and closing, and probably from age due to bad sealing material, probably drying out. Thanks. As I remember, they do say that it will eventually fog again, but not as badly. We have been talking to window replacement companies, but the answer is always to replace the windows.

RE: High Mileage RV - Afraid to go long distance

Time any repairs/replacements so you have time afterwards for a short trip. Better to find any problems with the repairs/replacements on a short trip.

Fogged Windows - Possible Fix

My wife came across this website and I was wondering if anyone had tried it. We are talking about $4,000 to replace my windows and I would like to avoid that. Website I have absolutely nothing to do with this website/person.

RE: Anza Borrego this weekend

I don't know of any casinos close by. Try looking on the Ca State Parks website for information about camping in the park. Also try calling the visitor center at the park or Anza Borrego Foundation and Institute.

RE: Anaheim, Ca. Rally April 16-18- 2010

Terry and Steve can hold their own at a rally! We managed to have plenty of fun at Kelly's Beach. They are veterans of a few other rallies, too. Beware all who would take those two for newbies! Steve will run 'em through the trusty old "Veggimatic", then washed, bundled and ship off to Lompoc !!!! Terry will be giggling in the background. Steve, Do David first. Please, please, please.

RE: Anaheim, Ca. Rally April 16-18- 2010

Thanks Mike! We missed all of you and being at the beach, but it was birthday craziness with the family. We have 3 birthdays in 1 week and that was lots of fun too. For us the weekend after St. Paddy's is always better...and since the kids had come to the beach 3 years in a row for us, it was their turn to dictate the events. We ended the weekend with all of us at the Kings Game (too bad they lost) on Sunday. We are looking forward to the rally - we will be arriving on Wednesday!! Yippee! How many days? And why don't we have more people posting on here?

RE: Mildew on Awnings

Just curious, HOW do you do an awning completely with a Magic Eraser?? People are having a hard time trying to do it with a long handled brush, wonder how it's done with an eraser? I can barely reach the top of mine with a long handled extension brush, don't know how I'd do it with one of those little erasers. From my previous post above; For the topside, if you have a typical manual awning, pull the awning legs off the trailer at the bottom where they clip and slide/lift the arms under the trailer so that the awning is flat against the trailer. You can then hose down and wash it (ladder or extension brush). For the underside, I used to use a step stool to wash the awning down. I use a ladder and the Magic Eraser while the entire awning is flat against the side of the trailer. I've been able to do an entire awning (both sides) with a Magic Eraser in about 30 minutes. I think they are asking how you do it if you don't have the manual awning, but the automatic type. If I ever have to do mine, the only thing I can think of is a long handled brush, a step ladder, a $20 bill, and a teen age grandson.

RE: Anaheim, Ca. Rally April 16-18- 2010

We had a great time in San Clemency and added to our flamingo collection this weekend. We didn't bike ride enough to work off all the great food that everyone cooked. And Ellie learned a new card game she can teach the girls at the church social !!! I got a kick out of Nicky at the campfire on Saturday night. Or I should say he got a kick out of me. I didn't know I was that funny. You can give Nicky an expensive gift and he'll have more fun playing with the empty box. Think about it. That was just wrong !!

RE: Anaheim, Ca. Rally April 16-18- 2010

Just get me through this workday and then we get to go camping with the Fabulous Furry Freaks of Fontana!!!!! Or something like that. I told Rindy to give him bad instructions, but he got here any way. Oh that's right. Her good instructions are bad, and her bad instructions are good. We have had 2 beautiful days at the beach so far and missing those of you who couldn't make it.

RE: Anaheim, Ca. Rally April 16-18- 2010

starting to feel like we are not going to fit in with all of you who have apparently known each other for a very long time..... Well, not to worry...we newbies can hang out together. This is our very first also! No, No, No. You newbies can not JUST hang out together. That's what's so great about these rallies, meeting the new people. A little story, sad but true. The first rally my wife and I attended we knew no one other than electronically (shut up Vince). After we got parked and set up, we decided to walk the circle and get acquainted. Well, we made maybe 2 sites and got invited to sit a spell. So we did. We got up and started walking and made it 2 or 3 more sites and got invited to sit a spell. About the 3rd time we stopped we were at Dave and Sue's site and spent the rest of the evening there. And we are proud to say that Sue has been a dear friend of ours ever since. So get out there and walk and the rest of you "old timers" make sure you invite the newbies to sit a spell. And make sure they brought the beer like newbies are supposed to. Carry on Barbarians.

starting to feel like we are not going to fit in with all of you who have apparently known each other for a very long time..... Actually, most of us met at one of these rallies. How long ago was that guys? And there will be many different types of personalities at the rally. So you will have a good time and feel like one of the family the first evening. In fact, make a point of introducing yourself to me (rrtom) if I don't find you first. You will see that unlike the rest of these uncivilized barbarians, I bring a certain sophistication to these events.

RE: Gas to Diesel Driving: What will I notice?

We went from a Terra to a Providence. As we drove away from the dealership, my wife said "Oh my God, it's like riding in a limousine." Maintenance is going to be quite a bit more expensive. Insurance will be more expensive. Depending on your state, license and registration will be more expensive.
