RE: groomer cut my poodle

This looks more like a scissors cut than a clipper. When his leg is extended it looks like a slit, but when it's bent it's more of a circle. But I think it looks lot worse than it is, I tend to be quite squeemish.
I spent yesterday reading a book with a lap full of poodles, and was able to keep him from licking it. Today he seems a lot better. He's back to his "happy poodle trot," tail high in the air.
Thanks for all your comments!

groomer cut my poodle

The boys were getting groomed with their groomer of the past 4 or so years. I got a call from her during their session, telling me she "nicked" Oscar, my 7 year-old toy poodle. It's on the inside flap of skin between his femur and hip. She said she had to use a liquid band-aid on it.
She said he didn't seem to notice it when she did it, but I'm taking that with a grain of salt; he seemed to be in a little pain last night, and of course he wants to keep licking it. It seems to be maybe an inch long, but it's not bleeding or oozing. He does not favor it when he walks or jumps up on the couch.
Now, my question. Poodles have very long memories. He's definitely going to remember this the next time he goes to the groomer. I'm wondering if there would be less trauma if I took him to a different groomer, or if I took him back to the one who cut him? He would be nervous in a new environment with a new groomer, but he's going to be worried about getting cut again with this groomer.

RE: pets in trailer

I think some of it depends upon how comfortable your dog is with the RV, and the campground. We stayed at one park in the National Forest in the Black Hills, and the poor dog was a basket case--so many unfamiliar scents and sounds. Now, after several years of RVing and a second dog, he's much more comfortable when we leave. We still try not to leave them alone for more than a couple of hours.
If you do want to take some time sightseeing, you can arrange doggie daycare or overnight care at a local vet's office or kennel, or make an appointment to have the dog groomed at a place where you can drop him off in the morning and pick up late in the afternoon.

RE: Help me decide on a car

Have you thought about Audi? I love my A3, which is a hatch-back. The A4s are really nice, but larger than what I was looking for.

RE: Clocks tonight

The clock said 8 this morning, and I couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be 7 or 9... I have trouble remembering if it's falling forward or falling back, or light in the morning or at night since November is always dreary.
The upshot is many years ago it was declared I should never touch a clock to change the time!

RE: Bus safety

This inspection was in addition to the annual inspections the motor coaches receive. I'm not sure how often school buses are inspected.

Bus safety

Last week officials announced the Wisconsin State Patrol would conduct bus safety checks on all buses at the Wisconsin State High School Marching Band Competition Oct. 17, in Whitewater, WI. They checked drivers' credentials and hours of service, along with vehicles' equipment.
Of the 47 motor coaches at the competition, only 12 had no violations. And out of the 37 school buses, only 16 had no violations. Six buses were immediately taken out of service.
I can't imagine what the results would be like if it had been a surprise inspection...
Four years ago there was a horrific crash between a tour bus and a jack-knifed semi truck. The bus was carrying students and staff home from that marching band competition. Five people on the bus died and several others were seriously injured. That bus had faulty brakes and would not have passed inspection, however the NTSB ruled the condition of the brakes was not a factor in the accident.
Like most parents, I always assumed school buses were safe and always in safe operating condition.

Jennifer is in my prayers. She is lucky to have such a loving family.
Edited to add a quote that has become my daughter's motto since she developed health problems:

RE: granite countertops

We're installing granite tile in our kitchen--the difference in cost between one slab and the tile was enough money for us to buy floor tile for the kitchen, eating area, laundry room, powder room and hall. It's kind of a big kitchen, with LOTS of counterspace. :B

RE: St Crouix Falls WI. RV Park????

We stayed at Interstate Park in St. Croix Falls, and it was beautiful! Lots of rocks to climb. The park straddles the Minnesota/Wisconsin border. There was/is a visitor center on the MN side, and you can take a walking tour of the "potholes."
Taylor Falls is the town on the MN side, and this link will give you a little more information: http://www.hutchk12.org/geo/mngeo/page42.html
We were there several years ago, and took a riverboat cruise along the Mississippi River. At this time of year, the foliage should be in full "bloom."
Edited to add the Gandy Dancer State Trail is nearby for walking and biking. Also, I found another link for campgrounds, private and public in the area. You'll have to scroll down past the "Cabins" listings.

I saw the move and enjoyed it. But I agree with corgihauler: Julie and her blog were not as interesting as the Julia Child sections.
