RE: Question for full timers

I have had all types and have found MHs can be a real money pit, especially if they sit unused for long periods of time. Also the Alpha MHs I believe had a delamination problem on the sidewalls in some years.

Midwest campgrounds for full timers?

We are going to spend some time in the midwest(Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin Michigan,Missouri) this summer and would like to stay put in one spot for a month at a time. Looking for a nice park that has more retirement age people than young families and some social activities. Any reccomendations? Thanks in advance.

RE: Reasonable Florida Park?

Hi You might check the web site for Alligator Park in Punta Gorda. I am not positive if they have all you are looking for but the web site will tell you.

RE: retirement rv sites

Alligator Park in Punta Gorda FL has RV sites for sale. The price thru the park is $39,000 but some resales are cheaper. It is a pleasant place with lots of activities, pool and big rec hall. It is far enough south to normally have warm winters. They have a web site w/ photos and info.

RE: Will the Front heater keep the MH warm traveling

We have a clear plastic shower curtain hanging on a tension type bar right behind the front seats. The bar is almost at the ceiling. This keeps it warm in the winter and cool in the summer with just the dashboard AC. When we are going to make a stop for lunch etc. we open the curtain so the rest of the coach gets the warm/cool air. Works fine.

RE: FL ???'s

I will second the reservations being a must.. We just made a one week reservation for next Nov 2010, Thanksgiving week at Curry Hammock State Park in the Keys. We made it on the very first morning we could( no sooner than 11 months) at 8 AM( time they start) and there was only one spot left. This is the case during the snowbird season in the choice parks.

RE: NE Arizona or New Mexico Suggestions?

I spent a few winter months in Deming. I found it an interesting area for day trips. Within an hour or so you can be in Mexico, ghost towns and scenic mountain areas. It is not a costly area. The singles club Loners on Wheels has their campground there(Low-Hi. The only downside the nights are cold( many in the mid 20s) due to the elevation, about 4200 ft.

RE: Length of units

Some of the large Class A do not have as much room in the bays and under the bed as you might assume. The slideouts mechanism occupy a lot of room so give that a close look too.

RE: How to haul a golf cart?

How about a enclosed cargo trailer with a ramp door long enough to fit both. They hold their resale value good.

RE: LOOKING FOR BEST TIRE AND PRICE ON 235/80/22.5

I had the same size Michelin on a 2002 chasis. I priced 6 Michelin, out the door installed and balanced was $2799. I then priced and bought Toyo and saved about $800.

RE: Waxing Motorhome

One person mentioned using "Awesome" cleaner. That stuff cleans good but is potent. Leave it on too long and it takes the paint off.

RE: Very low cost RV Park

Security perimeter fences in my opinion are important in the RGV. I think they are lacking in some of the lowest priced campgrounds. Before I made a reservation I would also want to see what my future neighbors looked like. Does the park have any activities? I have stayed overnight in low priced campgrounds and one night was more than enough.

RE: Crazy question but just have to ask it

If you like boondocking you should not miss Slab City about 3 miles east of Niland California. Its free and the people are interesting. The have a website.

RE: Geico Motorhome Insurance ..... Anyone have it? Good or Bad?

I just got a renewal bill from Hartford on my three vehicles. A 2007 Chev HHR,2003 Newmar Mountain Aire and a 1994 Dodge/cummins P.U. Hartford bill was $2200 for 12 months. I then got a quote from State Farm and they were $600 cheaper. I am switching. I liked Hartford but I like $600 more.

RE: Always looking for feedback and constructive thoughts

Here are a couple of my random thoughts. To see how a business should be run, study Les Schwab tire centers in the western states. To have better employees pay them enough so they care about their jobs. I still stop in CW stores now and then but when I have to get something pricier I get on line and have it shipped from PPL in Houston TX. Their people on the phones are very well informed about the products, courteous and when the shipping is added in they are still cheaper than either CW or any local rv dealer. I have seen some nice helpful employees at CW and for small items I do shop there. I am impressed with a CEO that will get on the forum. Thanks

RE: tow dolly needed?

Not all have brakes. That affects the price and depending on how heavy the car is might be required. Comments I have heard over the years tend to favor tow bars over dollys.

RE: Florida Corp of Engineer Parks Ft Myers Area

I have stayed at all three COE parks. They are really nice, clean also. But they do not have sewers at the sites so a occasional trip to the dump station will be needed. Showers are clean. Your are lucky to have reservations during the winter months.

RE: What areas are the most desolate ?

I am a Florida resident and have seen the desolate area around here. I would not want to spend any time there, too many things crawling around for me.
