RE: Slide Out Lubrication - WD40?

I was told silicone spray is better to use than wd40. I have been using it since I bought my trailer 5 years ago and seems to work fine. Doesn't seem to colllect dust and dirt like wd40 I have noticed.

RE: extend LP hose

Remember that the quick connect off the trailer is a low pressure line and it does not hook into a device that normally uses bottles. The extend a stay setup is for devices that have the regulator attached and the quick connect devices are regulated from the one on your trailer propane tanks. I have both on mine and use the quick connct but can use the others if I have company and want to get a couple of stoves or bar b ques going and the secondary ones are screw on type ones. Just make sure before you get out in the bush so you don't have a disaapointing trip.

RE: KALISPELL MONTANA

We have spent many days at Mountain Meadow over the last few years and is our favorite in the area. Close to the park and close to shopping etc if you need anything. Nice park too. Off in the trees and not just a parking lot on the side of the road like many in the area.

RE: When is a 5th wheel not a fifth wheel? When it's a TT!

I came across this unit a few weeks ago as well. We are those folks that want to get a fifth wheel layout, nice quailty, lots of storage but in a TT. We had pretty much given up until I spotted this one. Did some searching on the net and found some dealers with lots of pictures and I must say it has moved up near the top of our maybe list. I have checked with the new local and area dealers and none have this new model in stock so have no in home view yet. The one big feature is under neath storage. Most of the TT have smaller storage as my current unit but would like full underneath. I emailed the factory and they tell me it is about 24x56 inches and fully across. Would make for great storage without having to just pile things in. I am looking forward to seeing one in person to check out the look.

RE: Open Range 5th wheels lets hear your beefs.

Head over to the Open Range forum and there are more postings there. I am trying to figure out between a Crossroads and the Range. I think the Crossroads is a better built unit but we like the Open Range layout better. Just concerned about there quality and new technology stuff to be sure the bugs are gone. http://openrangervowners.forumco.com

RE: Rear door entry trailer

We have 2 doors on ours but only use the rear one. Have never had a campsite that it made an issue getting in or out. Our theory has always been and we have had several units is to have the door near 2 locations. One is near the fridge which we have now. For going in and out for refreshments etc. you do not need to walk through the whole unit keeping it cleaner. The other would be the bathroom near the door would be handy as well.It all depends on what kind of layout your trailer has as to where they place the door anyways. Go with whatever you like the best as there is no 100 per cent answer.

RE: 2009 RV Sales Stats

Did some checking on the Open range question and they started business in 2007 and have been shipping for full years in 2008 and 2009. Much like Heartland a new company that seems to be getting customers attention, I guess.

2009 RV Sales Stats

Hope I have this in the right spot but noticed this up on the Heartland forum and thought it would be good reading material and thoughts for this board. 2009 Year-Ending Retail RV Sales Statistics The December 2009 and therefore, Year Ending statistics are out for Retail RV Sales. RE: TT vs 5vr

As mentioned in an earlier post an Open Range 337 model is available with the same floor plan TT and Fifth wheel. We have been looking at upgrading as well liking TT better but are having a harder time finding a fifth wheel layout and storage to boot. The Open Range 337 takes care of that except for the storage. I just noticed the other day they have a new floor plan for 2010 woth looking at. It has bascially the same layout but backwards. Bed in the back, living room in the front allowing them to put a large storage under the bedroom that appears to be fifth wheel like. I have not seen one in person but if the pictures are correct it appears fith wheel storage and layout. This may be a possible answer to the unit that us that like TT can get the full effect of those with a Fifth and the weight is not bad either. Definitely has moved on to a possible model for consideration for us. Check out the model JT340FLR http://www.openrangerv.com/journey/floorplans.aspx

They are one of the ones on our short list as well. Go to http://openrangervowners.forumco.com/ and there is lots of info by Open Range owners.

RE: Kingston 5er

Go to the Crossroads website and they show pictures of how it is screwed and glued with angle pieces. We have been looking at cruisers that are built that way and from what I have read it is stronger and no has problems with that system as they have been building like that for many years.

RE: Looking for a Specific Type of Layout

Look at the Spree line by KZ. They have some smaller trailers that the bed area slides out the back. If I recall they had them in about a 21 ft unit and a couple others as well. Makes a small unit to pull but gives you that extra space when the bed moves outwards.

RE: Winter camping with KZ Spree

One other thing I forgot to add that I put a shut off valve from the main line to turn off the water going to the inside and outside shower. Once I have winterized and filled lines with pink I shut those off as in winter I only use the sinks and toilet so no need to worry about forgetting the outside shower etc. Just get one of those quick winterize hose kits and you will only need to pump in a gallon or so of pink to rewinterize those lines again. As mentioned previous don't forget the not so obvious water lines like the outside shower. Many have and then you have extra work to do later.

RE: Winter camping with KZ Spree

We have the previous series the Outdoorsmen (Frontier in the U.S.)of the Spree. We go out in the cold as well but I have heat taped my water lines to be sure. Make sure you keep the furnace going and you should be ok. The only area I would have of concern if they have the same routing of water lines as mine is from the water tank it goes under the floor for a short way and under to the bathroom for a short distance. Most of the lines run inside the trailer so do not get cold. Outside of those 2 small areas which I have heat taped we go out all year long up here in the great white north and never worry. Put some rv antifreeze in the toilet to make sure it does not freeze and it is almost like summer camping.

RE: Mattress

Just remember when dealing with a mattress as a long time sleep/mattress expert: The coils or base layer give support and the foam on top is only for comfort. The toppers you buy will feel more comfortable but if you have a sore back that is a sign of not enough support. remember to make sure you have a balance between the two. If you do you will sleep much better. Too much or not enough of either will not totally help your cause.

RE: Mattress

Check the size that you have, I am in the mattress biz and rv'er as well so deal with both issues all the time. If your queen is 79 inches long it is standard queen, if about 75 inches long it is rv queen. See if you can fit the extra few inches if you have room at the foot of the bed and make sure you can put your slide in if you have a bedroom slider. I always try to get customers to put in a regular queen if possible so you can be just as comfortable at home. We are also able to get Simmons in their beautyrest line of beds to make them in rv queen size for us as well in a few of the more popular models. Mine came with rv queen but had lots of room at the foot and I made sure of such and took out the one that came with the trailer in the bag and put a nice one in before we slept on the stock one. We sleep as good on the road as we do at home as everyone should when trying to get away to get r&r.
