RE: E350 Wiring Problem

After disconnecting and cleaning most of the major terminals on the van, I thought I had the problem solved, however when I went to hook everything back up, I noticed that the problem with everything going black was still happening. I also noticed that the positive wire running from the driver's side battery to the starter solenoid, mounted behind the headlight, was warm to the touch. I disconnected that wire from the solenoid, checked the continuity between positive and ground, and found none. I reconnected it, tested it, and found continuity. Something in that starter solenoid was grounding the positive side, I put a new one in and everything works great.

E350 Wiring Problem

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I am working on my 96 E350 w/ Diesel. It's a shuttle bus, turned RV. It has a two-battery setup and is having some electrical problems.
It all started the other day when I went to start it and everything went dead a second after I turned the key on. Everything went totally dark. I popped the hood and wiggled the driver's side battery ground wire and everything came back on.
This happened a few more times, but last night it blew a set of headlights, first the low beams, then the high beams. Then it blew the dome light. Both headlights went out with a flash and when the brights blew the battery light came on the dash and the running lights and dash lights started flickering.
When I checked continuity between the positive and negative battery cables (both batteries disconnected), I fond that there is a connection between them, about 20 ohms resistance. This can't be right, ground and positive should not show a connection, right?
So today, I am replacing the driver's side ground wire. It had a few bare spots on it and the copper is very corroded. Other than that, all I can think to do is start replacing solenoids or the iginition switch. Any ideas?
