RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'll second that.
Merry Christmas to everyone who's made this thread as good as it is!
Santa stepped up (I'm still waiting for that da*n pony from 1965) and got me a job this year. I start on Monday. Yep, full-time!
Well, Trish... I'll third that lol!! And Merry Christmas, y'all.
You and everybody here make this thread as good as it is... all I really do is make like a clone and stand here just "beside myself"
in amazement. I always hope we can continue it. At least long enough
for me to "archive" it all.
I hope the new job is good for you and good to you. Heck, girl if I had work to offer you I'd beg, nay; grovel, just to work with you!
Of course, I have an unparalleled sense of quality in folks. hee hee
I'm still waiting on that Whizzer motorbike...
Happy hollandaise! ... I mean holidays, y'all!

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

To all wha' be our kith an' kin of kindred spirit here, Greetings!
I thank each o' ye for not only the sharin' o' ye wisdom, but also o'
yer heart,
And before this year frets down to a close, an' the new begins his start...
The Preacher once spoke "Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens his fellow
man's countenance- his character's "face"!
I thank ye all, for the kindness o' the shapin' done, the passage disputed, and th' lending o' ye grace.
I pray that we shall continue our little measure as we may,
Helpin' those curious of our craft learn well, seek and find, and navigate
wisely their way.
Rememb'rin the Great Teacher, who gave His gifts to men freely
His greatest, given at the price of His life, He gave lovingly an' serenely!
So let us return th' good while th' sun upon us shines
And return e'en in our own little measure th' thanks due th' Glory divine!
Now I must close, blessings an' best wishes I bid to thine, and to thee,
Faith, Peace and Love- the best comes always in threes!!
may God bless y'all...

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Hah! Driveway, nothing...
This yard is 3/4 of an acre and the only flat spot is the front yard!
My driveways are ski-slopish, so the Travco lives out front.
What's a 'front yard'?? And I assume driveway is the two parallel dirt tracks leading from the road to the house ... :R
Griff,
Does it count if it's "cowbellied"- as in higher in the middle than
the ruts? That's the tranny oilpan "polishing" feature...

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Folks-
We're "teetering on the brink"!!
400 pages of history! Who would have
thought?
Thanks everyone! You all are the reason
this is what it is- a body of knowledge
and great association, the best of a true
cooperative effort at keeping a bit of the
American Dream alive and kicking!
Leeann, Trish, Griff, Eye and all you folks
here that step up and take the lead, I am
indebted to you all for what you do! If this
were a forum unto itself, I couldn't hope to
find or have a better group of Moderators and
Admins than all of you!!
To all the new folks here- the Boodles- thank
you for keeping the Dream going too. You are
the future of a wiser group of RVers who will
know the real meaning of "getting away" from it
all- not only in distance, but also in value.
It's what goes into the miles spent together,
not what we traverse them in.
May God bless, and watch over us all! I pray that
if we ever need to "circle the wagons", that it
will be for a large tribal dance!!

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I feel great about my purchase now. Not only is it in pretty good shape, it came with a built in network of technical support. ;-)
Thanks for the great idea Leeann. It looks great! I'm definitely going to look into that. It's the sheathing, but only right in the middle. The rest seems solid but your idea seems so cheap and easy that we may go that route. By the way, you figured it out that quick? You're good!
Mark, will do on the christening, but may use beer lol. I DO live in Wisconsin. I will for sure put up some pics.
Well, counting down the hours... Got a big day tomorrow. Not only do we get to pick up our new addition to the family, but I also get to see Aaron Rodgers and the Packers beat up on Barrett Faver (sic??) or whatever his name is ;-) and the Viqueens. It's like X-mas eve.
Well have a good night, and we will keep you updated, plus I'm sure we'll have questions. Mark, that DOES have a nice ring to it... Mine's paid for... is yours?
The Boodles (Red Wheel Dude and his wonderful wife)
Well, Red Wheel Dude and Lady Red Wheel, you'n's is now officially
citizens of our weird little nation!! Just ask- most of us have done some pretty incredible stuff, and we like to share what we know. And who knows? There will come a day that you will contribute your wisdom to someone here. I just have no doubt about that.
I was sooo hoping that y'all weren't gonna use champagne- beer lubricates the water pump (and brain cells) much better and makes the heater/defroster unit work more efficiently! Just like cooking with wine- use what you normally drink! That being the case, I'm turning up a couple o' pints of Guinness in yer honor! Slainte! (Gaelic for
"To your health!") And "IT'S PAID FOR!!"
I think I need to get bumper stickers made... can you see it?
"Real World RVer's- Mine's PAID FOR. Is yours?"

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

HAHA Just realized the guy I bought my rig from is 79powerwagon.
LOL holy crap.
Well she made it fine, and I'm picking it up from the shop on MON.
Welcome friends!!
This tends to be almost a family-like thang, and you are continuing
a wee bit of history with your rig, may God bless her and the both of
you. Stick around and pick through the posts here, ask questions and never worry about your posts being too long- I hold the record for verbal wandering, so you're good. For some weird reason the folks here continue to put up with an old fart like me. Now, you both have to post some pic's of the christening!! Save a bit of the bubbly and
pour it in the radiator lol! That not only beats the daylights outta smashing the bottle on the bumper, it also gives a blessing to your cooling system and those trips ahead!!
Godspeed- I hope I see you out there one fine day!

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Well folks,
This has been a season of change- what with the
Green Machine changing hands- may the adventure
continue for its new family, and may they find
their way here too...
I posted earlier that my rig, the "Koby", had been
burned when a wildfire crossed my property. What
I could save, I did. For a while I've been looking
for another rig, with no success. Until now.
The "Koby" was a '72 model. I found a '73 model that
is supposed to be a Mobile Traveler rig very similar
to the "Koby". The price is good- "Get it outta my
pasture if you want it, or it'll be landfill!".
Film at eleven...

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Call back to the boots comment,,,, I really liked Trish's boots,, they were stylin'..... if it wasn't for going to work I would wear jeans and oversized hawaiian shirts every day... kind of a comfort thing... now back to our regularly scheduled program.....
lol hurting... I'd have to get a Nehru jacket in there somewhere, and some tie-dyed T's too...
"Same Bat time- same Bat Channel!!"

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

You guys, here on this thread, taught me that.
I thought I 'knew' about rigs because we had one. I was wrong.
There's more practical advice and good sense (also idiocy and tomfoolery) on this thread than anywhere on the net.
If this thread were a menu item it would be the most obscenely
constructed chef's salad imaginable. All in perfect balance.
For all good sense and advice there must be equal parts of idiocy
and tomfoolery. That's exactly what makes it good!!
Russian dressing (a.k.a. perverted citrus French) on mine. Please...?!?

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I have already checked it over for leaks and the drivetrain, I am a auto mechanic by profession, so I am not to worried about that.
The propane system is something I dont want to take any chances on so I am taking the rv to a dealer to have it checked out. It leaks at the opening valve on the tank (tank is half full). I dont want to try and use anything with gas until I feel comfortable with it.
The tanks have been replaced so I know they are good, not sure about the water pump though.
I just want to get the electrical system working to start with then work on the other luxury things after.
Thanks for all the links, should get me started.
I have pictures of it, I just dont know how to change the size of them to be able to post them. Not real computer literate.
RVnoob
Sounds like you've got a good start. Everything drivetrain is 1 ton +,
so it is a bit simpler. Propane is really another thang- I'm cool with all the plumbing south of the tank, but prefer a propane company to check out valves and tank related issues. The genset was the hardest issue for me, but my Onan 4.0 CCK boatanchor posed few difficulties other than cleaning connections and doing some long-overdue maintenance. The rest of electrical was pretty much straightforward. My next rig will get LED marker/clearance/turn lamps as well as their interior replacements where it'll work OK.
Have fun!

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Oh, come on, Leeann.
You don't totally love Cameron working on the engine in an evening gown?
Yeah and who said "Chanel work boots" ;0)
Seems like Thirteen is looking to shoot PO's with her crossbow.
Fair enough... most of our PO's deserve it.
Yes, I love Cameron working on the engine in an evening gown. Priceless.
Gee, methinks that was me....actually, I think it was PINK Chanel work boots!!!???
I've worn an evening gown JUST ONCE- never again! And DEFINITELY NOT
strapless!! Far as boots go, I still have a nice white pair of pointed
toe Cuban heel with rhinestone cactuses on them that I wear with scrubs. Depending on the occasion I may wear spurs. Or not.
Girls with guitars are cool- girls with crossbows excite me...

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

No. Look for leaks.
Take it to a high-pressure carwash, that's how.
Buy some Eternabond tape (NOT from Wal-Mart!) and get at it...
Search this thread for how to clean off old putty and put on new Eternabond.
Seal the coach, then repair drivetrain, then the propane system including fridge. Then water and holding tanks. Then the interior electric and genny.
Trust us on this --Keep the water out.
I just loooove how Trishie just cuts to the chase on stuff!!
RVnoob,
I don't think a list of priorities could be stated more succinctly.
It also holds to another parameter- cost. These are usually the more
spendy items when working on a rig. But if you do them like homework,
you'll always make the grade- sometimes literally!!!
Good luck and welcome! Pick apart this thread- you'll find enough
here to do what you're starting out to. Keep posting and share some pic's of the progress too. This helps others by showing them that
somebody else is just as crazy as they are to do this! lol just kidding- enjoy~ You're among friends.
