sue.t wrote: We have little red 'brushes' that pick up lint and work great with fur. Brush one way to pick stuff up, brush the other way to clean the brush off. Available in most drug stores. Lasts years and years. DH carries one in his truck to keep the fur under control (uses it on the upholstery, carpet, dash), and I have another in the fiver.
What brand name would we be looking for?

[quote=Luizianna]Have you tried Lint Rollers? They work great!!quote]
We used to be able to buy lint rollers that were made out a soft sticky plastic material, and which could be used over and over again by just washing the plastic after each use. Now however, the only ones I've been able to find have replaceable cartridges with sticky paper that needs to be disposed of whenever it gets full of lint. I liked the old kind that could be used over and over again by washing it, but I don't like the kind that have to be replaced. My cat sheds so much fur, especially at this time of year, that I would go through an entire roll in a single session.

Wearing the household cleaning gloves (yellow, almost up to the elbow, rubbermaid?) and rubbing the seat cushions (or whatever) with the flat (palm) of your hand gathers the hair up into strings or balls that are easy to pick off.
For throw rugs, I wet them down outside, spray a little Simple Green on them and scrub them with a rubber toothed broom they sell at home shows. Cat and dog hair forms into easily removed ropes.
As a follow up, my lint roller is duct tape on a paint roller.

For the red 2-way lint brushes that last years, there a numerous brand names out there. Evercare Magik Brush is my favourite and they have pics online.
Click on "Magik Brush" or "Magik Brush w/Revolving Head" to see the different sizes. I prefer the travel size. Price is right, too.
I think I've seen them at most major drugstores and possibly Walmart.

I have to confess I ran home last night and tried the Scotch Brite pad on my brand new couch (that the yellow lab has already slept on!). I worked PERFECTLY! I've got the red "brush", and the rollers (which get expensive), but I thought this was much better.
The best test was this morning when my yellow rubbed up against my black pants as I was dashing out the door to catch a train. One sweep with the pad and my black pants were hairless!
Thanks for posting this idea!
