I can not find tract lighting I like. I found some at home depot that are 110volt. Has anyone converted lights to 12 volt and installed a switch? I think there are 12 v bulbs that go in a 110v socket so I will not have to convert the fixture.
Any suggestions?

Not a problem. But too bad they don't make a 110v to 12 volt lite fixture adapter, because those 12 volt house type bulbs aren't very efficient don't look like to me.

I found some 12-volt track lights by ELCO Lighting. I replaced several of our standard 12-volt task/reading lights with ELCO's model ET928 fixtures. The 12-volt, MR16 halogen lamps come in 20-watt, 35-watt and 50-watts. The 20-watt is enough for me, but the 50-watt are more common and preferred by my DW.
I used ELCO's mono-point base (sorry, I can't find the model number) which allows one to plug a single track light into a fixed position and added an automotive rocker switch to that. I've got six of these placed wherever we read or DW knits.

Thanks guys. I converted one last night that was 110v and placed a push button switch on it. A little imagination and alot of shopping did the trick.
