Can anyone recommend good RV Parks (public or private) near Banff or Lake Louise?

There are no private RV parks inside the Canadian Rockies national parks. Parks Canada runs all of the campgrounds within the parks. Some, such as Tunnel Mountain, Lake Louise and Whistler, have full hookups but will need reservations for full hookups (partial hookups or no hookups are also available). Others have no hookups and are first come first serve.

Tunnel Mtn near Banff is really nice. Stay in the no-hook up sites if you can or in the full hook up sites. Stay away from the power only section.

Two Jack just outside of Banff is very nice. No hookups in the main campground but you can burn all the wood you want if you get a fire permit.

Outside of Banff National Park - Bow River Provincial Park, Mt. Kidd in Kananaskis Country (a Prov. park also), als o look up Canmore in cg directory. Further east - close to Calgary, at Cochrane is Bow River's Edge cg and Big Hill Spring cg.

I agree, Tunnel Mtn is extremely nice. Whistlers, too, is very nice.
One correction: Lake Louise has no full hookups, just electric, and that area is little more than a paved parking lot.

mab - don't understand your last post - re "a big parking lot"
Yes the sites are 'double' (2 units but opposite directions) but plenty of space between the rigs and lots of trees between the sites. We like it a lot better than Tunnel Mtn. More central for touring - back to Banff, Yoho N.P. Ice fields, Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake, Takkakaw Falls etc.
the tyown of banff is nothing but an overrun tourist trap.
