Any one rent a C class for a week?How much did it cost (gas included) and how far did you go?..I'm trying to get some idea of total cost for a1200 mile 1 week trip (Fri to Fri) As the DW is warming to the idea of buying a camper but wants to try it out before buying something,I'm thinking Montreal to Gaspe should be the perfect trial run.We have been tent camping for many years but at 60 we both need something more comfortable if we are to continue.

Well, I tried to send you a pm of some people I know of who might help by pm, but you don't allow them.
Thus, I shall suggest that you do an advance search going back more than a year.
One specific example of one who rented in 2005 came to mind, but I won't speak for them.
& I, I took the road less travelled by.

Hi,
I have been renting C class MHs since 1988 and have a lot of info, but here for starters:
For a 24' C class expect to pay minimum (in May/June) of around $115 per day, this will at least double in the high season.
To this you have to add $50-75 "preparation fee" and a mileage charge of between $0.28 to $0.34 per kilometer payable to the rental company.
All the above will have tax added of course.
There are some early booking deals available at the moment, which can give you discounts on mileage. Most of these deals will probably disappear at the end of this month.
I normally do about 150-170 Km per day (I have lots of time, usually 4-5 weeks since I am retired) and my calculation of average gas consumption is about 24L per 100Km, so you would use about 460L.
I usually allow about $18-20 per night for campground fees, I don't use commercial campgrounds since I don't need hook-ups, if you need these facilities allow $25-40.
A few tips. Don't let the rental company talk you into "convienience kits" (sleeping bags, pillows, cooking utensils etc.) they will charge $50 per person. Take them from home.
Always 'phone the rental company and see if they will do a deal, don't rely on the internet for prices, sometimes they have cancellations or special local deals, I saved $800 in 2006 when I got a 50% reduction in mileage charges!
Try the big rental companies first.

Just found that CruiseCanada in Montreal have 30% discount on 7 day rentals for a couple of dates in May/June.

Unfortunately i'm on vacation later part of July through August,. Doing a quick add up on your price quotes puts me close to $5000 to rent a C class around the end of July and drive to Gaspe for a week.Thanks for the info, i think its a little out of my league price wise.

Wow that seems steep. When we rented it was ~150-200/day rented in 7 day increments. Definitely worht it tho as you find out for real if this is for you or not. Better than dropping 50-100K and a unit and finding out!

Here's a couple sites to check out.
I was pricing up a week in a Class C for a trip with my son (railroad museums in Penn) for early August and it was going to run about $2500 for a 1500km trip with tax and a couple extras. We decided to use my 5th wheel.
My wife and I are looking at going from our 5th wheel to either a Class A or a large C (likely to an A) and I thought renting one would give us a better idea.

I went to the rv show last year and was disappointed that they didnt use the Olympic field for the event instead they crammed everything into the parking garage,which with all the campers and thousands of people it was not the most pleasurable experience trying to squeeze through the crush of people.
