I have a '03 2500 short bed Dodge/Cummins with the same frame/bed as yours. You will need a slider for most 5ers. I would recommend one with a four way pivot which is a huge improvment from our old across the wheel well type 2 way pivot we used many years ago. Brand is not important as they all work as advertised. A auto slider is nice and if you can swing the extra bucks would be the way to go. I use the Reese 16k manual slider. If you want a clean bed with no bed rails you need to look at different clean bed systems from the different hitch makers. I use the standard bed rails. My hitch brackets were welded in back in '03. I prefere welding the brackets vs just bolting as my truck does commercial type hauling at times. Your hitch brackets can be welded/bolted or a clamp kit from the hitch manufactor. Check with each hitch manufactor for their input on your particular make of truck.

I use the slider most of the time when backing as it slides the pin about 11 inches aft of the rear axle which takes less steering input.

Spent the extra money on the Superglide. It was hard to swallow at first, never having to get out of the truck is sure nice! I am the type that would second guess whether I could make it or not and probably end up hitting the cab with the trailer.
