The veggie truck (Martin) actually DID have camarones yesterday, huge ones, but you can buy them in Kino Viejo also. Have a safe trip!

Any advice appreciated. We are coming from Celistino, North of Mazatlan.

Doing it in one run? We are in Maz at Las Jaibas leaving Wednesday AM for San Carlos for a few days then on to our first trip to Kino Bay. The run to San Carlos from Maz usually takes us 10 to 11 hours depending on stops for lunch and P breaks (for the dogs!) La Pilarica Pemex rest stop at the south end of Los Mochis has very good Mexican food. It's a popular Mexican truck stop.

We don't take the main road to WHR as it is to rough for us, we take the ATV trail over the hill with our truck, much smoother. I believe that the main road HAS NOT been graded recently, but Barbara will tell me if I'm wrong. LOL. Just drive slow and you will eventually get there.

Thanks for all the info. We plan to start the engine at 7:00Am tomorrow and with a quick lunch break and dog stops plan to be at Totonaka in San Carlos by 5:00PM and walking the beach by 5:30PM. Beacause it is so very cold at night lately we will stay at the RV park rather than overnite at a Pemex. Hope to be in Kino Bay by mid afternoon Wed. or sooner, depends on 'that road'. I think we will try driving it with the toad unhooked and in the lead.
See you there Rainbirds.

I haven't been on the WH road for awhile, but it used to be that there was a couple of places that the road split into 2 roads. It wasn't obvious at the fork but the reason was that there was a real bad section of road ahead, and someone started the second track to get around it.
So using the toad as a scout is a good idea if you have walky-talky's.
If you don't just let the scout take one branch up and the other back down while you sit at the Y and wait. There was about 3 or 4 of these back when I ran it.

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this road won't really be so very bad. We have been on some pretty rough roads in Mexico and find that as long as we go slowly we are okay. This WH rv park better be worth all the trouble!!!

Personally, I think it's way too far from town, and all you have out there is the RV park itself, no stores, no restaurants, no native people, just the coast and the desert. But apparently a lot of people like it.

All we need is a beach and the sun and our RV. We joined WHR back in October and seeing as we will be passing, thought we would check out Kino Bay. We prefer Playa Luces in Acapulco but are always willing to check out a new beach.
We will check you out in site 1.
