My transmasters cracked badly at about a year and a half. I went with the BFG Commercial t/a's. So far totally happy!

From what I understand LT tires are Light Truck tires. . . softer sidewalls??

Not the XPS Rib tires. They have steel cords in the sidewalls. You want to see how stiff they are, watch them mount them at a tire shop. I watched them do all 7 of mine and they had a heck of a time getting them on the wheel cause they are so stiff.

The Rib is a GREAT trailer tire, lots and lots of people have switched over to them with 0 issues.

You've got the same set-up as I so if the reduced capacity hasn't been an issue for you I may be sold.

How long have you had those tires on your rig?

No cracking, etc.???

Since I have 6 of them, I have 16,080 worth of tires. My GVWR is 16,000lbs, so I have enough capacity.
I run right at 16,000lbs also and have no issues. Don't forget, 3200lbs of weight is on my truck so I have right at 13,000lbs of weight on the axles.
I have had this setup for 5 years.
I did have them replaced last year due to ozone cracking, but the date stamp on the tires showed they were 6 years old, so that was time to replace them.
I knew they would crack/rot before I ever wore them out.
When they cracked, Michelin stepped up and replaced them for me. I was very impressed.
Got all new 7 tires before dune season this year.

Another option if 3040 capacity of the XPS is not enough is the Yokahoma Y785R in 7.50R16. This assumes your rims will take 100PSI. Capacity is 3330 @100PSI. 31.5 diameter

These are an all steel Tube type commercial tire. We used these for our 60' low bed hydraulic tail semi trailers that were used in a wide mix of inner city and rural heavy equipment delivery applications. Curb jumping, tight turn scrubbing and rough dirt road abuse was "normal" along with high load high speed freeway travel.

Just a little out of the box thinking here .....

I just purchased a 2006 Raptor 36 ft Toy Hauler. The fellow I bought it from went round with Keystone and Carlyle and they just replaced his China tires. SHould I run these for a while or replace them They probably have 1500 miles on them.
Thanks Slink
