What do you guys with Ford chasis motorhomes think of the V10? Any major issues with it? How does it do towing/hauling?

I have a gross combined weight of 18700 and the V-10 does great. The newest engines are even better with 3 valves per cylinder. It is a tested and proven design, don't hesitate!

If your talking new,I love it.I had an issue with a stuck thermostat, but ford warrenty took care of it.As far as power goes it is still impressing me.I tow a 4500lb xl7 sometimes and it pulls it fine. These motors are on the high rpm side,it scared me at first but ford told me thats the nature of the beast and its designed that way.

My first MH was a 32v Southwind on a Ford f53 with the V-10. Never a problem with the V-10. It was a 1999 engine. The new ones have more power but mine got me where I wanted to go without any issues.

the only problem i have had with my v-10 was with 60k on engine blew a head due to what we discovered as a thin casting on original head.. other than that have been very pleased with performance etc.

I'm actually looking at a used motorhome. 2000-2003. I couldn't justify a new one, although I found some good deals out there!

I heard the V10's run high in the rpm's too. I'm actually looking at both a used motorhome and a '99-00 F350 with a V10. I think I'm going to get the F350 first and stick with the truck camper for a year or two and then get a motorhome.

Combined weight of about 17000lbs and it pulls like a champ. I just wish it got better gas mileage.

I have owned two mohos with the V-10. The first was a 1999 model and the second is a 2002 model. Only problem was on the first, a faulty PCM changed under warranty. The engine has plenty of power, it pulls my 31 foot Tioga and its toad with no problem. The engine does turn some RPM's to make its power, but I understand it was designed that way. I have full confidence in the motor.
