Curious about the mileage others are getting. I'm getting 11.4 mpg over the 12 months I've been pulling the FW below with the truck below. I'd love to hear the mileage other Chevy or Dodge owners are getting as long as the mpg is calculated, that is, not just off the truck's computer.

I'm thinking about replacing the DA with a CTD in the next few months.

I don't track non-towing mileage on my DA so I can't help anyone with that number. I use the truck 80% or so for towing and we only use the truck for other duties if my wife's car or my motorcycle is not available.

Thank you.

I've only calculated on handful of trips and have gotten anywhere from high 9's to low 13's depending on speed and headwind. The high 9's was towing into a heavy headwind. I was amazed at how much it killed mpg.

I hand calculated 400 trip to Disney World and the DIC was about .5 mpg LESS than my hand calculated. It was a few years ago so I don't recall exact number but it was like 12 DIC and 12.5 hand calculated. Truck had about 10K on it then. Now has 30K.

It's a great question, but don't put much stock in the answers you get.

It goes back to the old saying "Figures don't lie, but liars do figure!".

I see between 11 and 12 most often, at interstate speeds (65mph max for me). If I tow on a nice flat road like US 2 in the UP of Michigan, I can get up to 14. My 5er is a mid profile that weighs just under 9000 lbs loaded to go. A head wind takes me down to 10 mpg on the interstates. The poorest I have sen is 9.5 and the best 14.1.

If you drive in South Dakota your milage will be around 8mpg. I seems I always drive uphill and in a strong head wind? Otherwise I get 12 driving 65 pulling my 5er.

I have towed along with a friend's 2006 D/A Z which compares in power to the 06 CTD and my 98 12V with #6 plate. The 06 D/A (9.4mpg) pulling a 24' box trailer identical in wgt and size to that towed by the Dodges got 10% less fuel mileage than the 06 and 20% less mileage than the 98.
I have towed my fiver along with a friend who has a similar Big Sky and 07.5 CTD 68re. He got slightly less than 9 mpg grossing 22K while the 98 got 10.5 mpg grossing 20.5K.
I would say you can expect slightly less fuel economy with a 6.7 CTD as compared to the D/A with considerably more power available than a stock 04 D/A. Use all the power and you will pay!

I have a TT not a 5er but I range from 11 point something in a strond headwind to 13 point something without, but most figures are 12 point something. They are hand calculated because my overhead reads about 2-3 mph high. Don't I wish it were correct!

Hand calculating in fine, but with the DIC readout, you can see the results of changes in speed, wind and terrain very quickly. Cant do that by hand.

Wow. I thought his number was pretty much on the mark. My father inlaws 07 DMaxx returns about the same millage towing.

As for the DMaxx to CTD... I have read on many forums that a Cummins will always return better fuel economy, stock to stock, than all of the other diesels out there. The older generation Cummins return even better fuel economy than the newer ones.

My milage averages around 13.5mpg to 14mpg pulling a 7000lb TT at around 120 km/hr (75mph)(up hills too!) I have an 07 Megacab 5.9 48RE.

ALL of the newer diesels are returning lower fuel economy due to the emissions craaap they were required to put on. I guess it's just a race now to see who can get the fuel economy up, and keep up with the emissions.

By the way, I was a lifelong GM man.
