Now there is a great guy. T-10, you saved me a bundle on a fanstatic truck. With T's help and the available rebates, I drove off the lot in the exact truck I wanted for almost 10k off of sticker. I bought a loaded F-450 4x4 for what many pay for a F-250. And for those surprised by the cost of these new trucks, trim for trim, option for option, carrying/towing rating comparable, all these trucks sticker very close to each other. I looked at a 3500 Laramie, a 3500 LTZ and their sticker was within $1500 of my truck. Luckily dealers are eager to deal right now. Just remember, keep the trade-in out of the dealing. Once price is agreed upon, then and only then, bring in the trade if you got one.

get the "factory invoice pricing" (not dealer invoice price) from kbb.com or nada.com or edmunds.com with all the options from that particular truck window sticker. Then do battle with your dealer on sticker price and all factory or dealer rebates. Those webs have great info on rebate issues. Now the hard part, around here anyway, is finding a Ford truck dealer that will sell "factory invoice pricing". Good luck....

This is great info guys, Thanks for all the help. In today's economic market it's hard to pull the trigger on a $40-$50K rig. Especially when I know it's going to cost more to operate then the one I have now that is doing the job. I just know the rig we have now will be sub-par for the long travels across the country. I think it's time to buck up and get a stouter TV.

PlaneKrazy, Does this mean you won't be lurking over at Dieseltruckresources? I always enjoyed yours posts. Are you going to trade or sell you Mega? Let us know what you do. I think you will really like the DRW pulling that pretty KZ around. I would like to get a mega DRW but have my truck just the way I want it and to not want to take a hit on selling it.

Hey Capt Skup, let me know what think of the mileage of that truck. I have been looking at them myself but have been scared away with all the talk about terrible mileage and high priced diesel. Have been reading the posts on dieselstop.com about the 450's and most are not good. Anyway good luck with the truck and I know from looking at them she's a beauty.

iflych52, I won't trade it if I'll take a hit on it. The 5.9's Megacabs are really wanted by the guys that like the Dodge/Cummins. These seem to sell really quick if they are in good shape and low miles, both of which mine has. As a trade in it would be a wash I think, if I sell private party I'll gain $3-4K. I can wait a few weeks for that kind of money for sure. I don't discount the truck I have one bit, this truck is a sweet truck, great fuel mileage and power. It's been flawless since I bought it. As much as I have posted in the weight battles about SRW vs DRW and how my SRW is doing the job I know this is the wrong truck for semi-fulltiming and traveling across country.

If you wait til fall '09, you can get the new Dodge heavy duty. It will be leaps and bounds above the current model. I'm considering this move.

I bought mine in November it is the lariat model with tow package, leather seats, sliding back window and 2WD. It's a great truck and pulls my 16,000 lb 5th wheel without hesitation. I'm currenlty getting 15+ MPG and hope to get a little better as time passes by. I payed $42,000 since they had it on the lot for 8 months and was unable to sell because fo 2WD.
