Do to gas prices our Utah trip to Ruby's Inn and the the Grand Canyon this July 5th -12th may be cancelled. Bummer, Rubys had everything we were looking for, with full hook ups, the swimming pool, horse back riding and OHV right out of the campground.
Looking for something closer that would have the same or close to it somewhere in Arinona. We know it's going to be hot but this is the only time we can get the trip and time in.
Was wondering if anyone had any places they could recommend. I know that's going to be a tough one, especially the full hook ups, OHV out of camp site and pool thing. Any help would be gretaly appreciated.

Do you trhink gas will be cheaper next year?
IMO go. Treat every day as a gift, and as if it may be your last day on earth, because one day it will be.

Lots of trails on BLM and NPS lands. Need to be street legal to ride these. Altitude is about 3200 feet so it is about 10-15 degrees cooler than Vegas or Phoenix. Pretty scenic area with lots of Joshua trees. Folks in town ride everywhere on ATV's. Might be tough competing with boaters for a space on the 4th.
Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.

It is probably only going to cost a couple of hundred dollars more for gas than if you made the same trip last year. Now many miles is it from your home to this location in Utah? Figure what it would have cost you last year when gas was $2.75 a gallon and then figure what it would be with gas at $3.50. Subtract one from the other.
My trip to Death valley this year, 1000 miles round trip, cost me about $150.00 more for gas than the same trip the year before. But do what you have to do but it would be a shame to make a trip with less than what you want and then kick yourself for not making the trip you really wanted. Eat all your meals in the TH and don't eat out and you can save a bundle right there. Off hand I don't know of any place in Arizona that would be what you are looking for, but I hope you find something. Good Luck

I second the vote to go on the original trip. We are pushing 70 years old and plan to go from the midwest to Yellowstone this Fall and Florida in January. We will choke during every fillup but this may be our last chance for either one!

Ditto to Dick B. Regardless of age none of us knows how much time we have left. May get hit by a train or something. We'll go (same age range as Dick B.) until we can't go any more for whatever reason. Money? I tell people it's just that much less the kids will inherit. If we couldn't afford the over $4 for diesel (fortunately we can but don't like it) we'd conserve some other way to be able to do the traveling we want. 9000 miles so far this year, going to North Carolina in three weeks, Colorado or Montana in the summer, no fall plans yet, Arizona next winter. Can't plan ahead any farther. If you really want Utah there ought to be some way to work it out.

Theres a million of beautiful places to camp/ride (boondocking) just west of BC south of Tropic Res. Eat Ramon noodles, scrape up roadkill to cook, JUST GO!

You are making a huge mistake by not going. I am a former Ca. resident, born and raised. Moved to Boulder City Nv. and on to Northern Ut. No I am not part of the Empire. The riding is spectacular. Do not pass up your chance to go. Enjoy life to it's fullest extent. You never know when it will end. This country has so much to offer. Take advantage of it before it is too late. Elwood

Go and enjoy. You may not get another chance.
I am going to IL, IN, OH, NY, ND, MT,WY, UT and back to AZ for the winter. Probably $6-800 more in fuel. I don't like it but will save other ways or leave less for the kids.
I am definately not going to stay put. 70 and loving it.
