Greetings;

Yesterday, I extended my 2007 (31RL) Colorado's Landing Gear to reach my hitch and all went well. Once hitched, I retracted the landing gear but the leg on the same side as the control switch did not move. Then 40 amp fuse blow and was replaced. I tried moving them up and down and down and up using the switch but the problem remains.

The other side works fine. What - if anything can I do or try to fix this problem? It's the weekend and no technician(s) are available before Monday next!! All suggestions, recommendations and advice welcome.

Did you try retracting manually with the crank handle?

There are several shear pins in the jacks and crossover. Check each of them and the ones in the top of the jacks. If you can't find a pin try a cement nail.

Like bldrbuck said, look at the bar that connects the two jacks. Last year we went on a fairly long trip and discoved when we arrived the same problem. One of the bolts on the end of the connecting bar had come out, so only one jack would work. Make sure nothing is jamming or binding up against the jacks. Good luck.

BB here

I tried both the manual and switch methods again - but neither work! I also double checked the pins, etc. again and that seems in order as well. Any other suggestions, please.

If its accessible, you need to have someone operate the switch while you watch to see what parts are moving and what parts aren't. The problem will be where they join. You will need to take the cover off to see the gears.

Hi All.

We had that happen in a campground upon arrival. Once we parked into our site, I wanted to di-connect the truck and level everything up. Nothing happend at the landing Leg Switch. So I decided to wait until mornings, as it was getting to dark to see by then. My landing Leg Switch has four ploes on it, then four more polls attached to the first four, so a total of eight wires. So my Landiing Legs motor is a duel switch wired for both 12 volt, and 120 volts. So I fired up my Honda, as we were camping with no hook-ups in a US Forestry Campground. And nothing,no power at all after checking with a test probe., for both 12 volts and 120 volts. I sat and thought a few monents, and scratched my head. All of my fuses, and Breakers were in there correct position. Then I remembered, that behind, my bottom, stacked battries, there was a 30 amp fuse, in a plug-twist in glass fuse holder. As soon as I touched the Fuse hlder, my Landing leg motor clicked. So I took out the fuse, already knowing it was good, but wanted to check it anyways. The whole repair time, was only 15 minutes. As I know my electrial system so well, I know where every connection and fuse is. After working on all of our own RV's for the last 40+ years, there isn't anything that I can't find or fix myself. After 12 years of our 5er bouncing down the roads of America, the Plastic Holder, the little tab, that locks the two halfs together, had worn some, even thought I have never touched it before. Probably just bad luck and age. That was my problem. When we returned from our trip, I replaced the two piece Plastic Fuse holder for almost nothing. I believe that electrial problems are the most nusineces. But if you learn to do a complete Pre-maintence program on your RV every year, and I do mean check everything. you will find that you will be better off, and a lot more likey to never have a problem. You will be surprized, at just how many electrail connection in your Main Control Panal come lose. Good Luck. Happy Camping. Dan & Jill

Might be a problem with the 90 degree gear box, assuming that you have a one motor arrangement. The gear box is opposite the motor and is what actually drives the landing gear down. In a emergency, the motor and it's gear box can be removed and temporarily attached to the opposite leg where the 90 degree box is located. There will probably be only two bolts holding each gear box. If you can't extend the wires, then the motor and gear box can be turned using a big crescent wrench. Don't ask me how I know.

To those who tried to assist and advise plus anyone else interested . . . "It was a 'broken bolt' that caused the problem". $300 USD lighter and 3 days later the repair(s) are done and I'm on my way.!!! Tkx. to all.
