Hey everyone, hope you'all had a great week end,
I'm asking you for a recommendation in regards to a health/medical insurance company who covers an individual on a national basis.
I am a full-timer and own an operate a small business. I travel to where ever my services are needed.
As usual, I would like to thank you in advance for your help!

We are fulltimers and have a personal policy with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida. It is good throughout the USA.

I'm an agent in Florida. I'm licensed for P&C including health insurance.
My advice to you is read the fine print of your policy. Most policies are not designed for full timers that spend the majority of time out of their home state. They usually have vacation clauses and such that would cover you but full timing is not vacationing. Make sure your company understands exactly what you are doing and where you are going.
Don't screw around with this because its all fun and games when you spend 8 months out of state and you are from Florida and end up with a heart attack. Insurance companies will look for ways to avoid paying large claims. Especially if you are violating your contract or misrepresented. Your agent may or may not be a reliable source of information, do your own research or make sure he is covered by an Errors and Ommissions policy and also get it in writing that he knows and says its ok for you to spend that much time out of state.
That said, I would encourage to spend the extra money each month and get yourself a PPO style policy where you have out of network options and are not limited by in state groups / networks. Blue Cross may be nation wide but insurance is a state by state issue, they might be in nearly every state but your network probably is not.

Check out United Health Care.
Wife's p/t employer offers great medical coverage, even for part-timers (which she is). A national company, we're good nationally.
You can probably get the same coverage as an individual. PPO, of course.

For primary insurance, in many (most/all?) states BC/BS requires that you be physically present in your "home state" for at least six months each year. In addition they will not allow you to use the street address of a mail forwarding company - if they know that it is a mail forwarding company.
I would get a broker in your home state to get quotes for you. He should be aware of any problems you might have.
