We have a 2007 34SS which Jayco has agreed to upgrade the springs on. My question is does anybody have the proper KONI catalog numbers so I can get new shocks ordered and installed at the same time the springs are being done. Thanks

When I had mine done, I had the suspension shop get the shocks. I only had to pay for the install on the fronts as the backs had to come out for the spring upgrade anyway. The part numbers on my receipts are not koni numbers so they probably wouldn't do you any good, but they charged me $141 each for the fronts and $152 each for the rears.

8KCAB the easiest way to visually know which springs you have is if all three leafs are the same thickness you have 15,000 lb springs if one leaf is noticably thicker you have the 19,000 lb leafs. hope this helps

Thanks to all for the help. The coach is in the shop so I can't check the springs until Sat. I have the VIN number check running now so I will have more info in the next few days. www.shox.com (800 683-2890) can help with the Koni questions and part numbers. Be prepared by inspecting how both the rear and front shocke are mounted top and bottom. They came mixed and matched from GM-go figure. They may have a loop on top or bottom or pin with a nut and part numbers for the shocks will vary according to the mounting method.

I have the overhead forward bunk with the TV mounted on the right. The TV is inhibited when the engine is running so the driver cannot watch while under way. It is nearly impossible to see it anyway.
I think it is done via relay back near the fuses and breakers are. Has anyone found a way to bypass this function? Has anyone gotten a wiring diagram fot hteir unit?

Seneca 35GS

Well it took some time to sort it out, so here it goes. I looked at the RPO and the VIN number on the sticker above the drivers visor and copied all the info down. As previously posted by another subsciber RPO code GQ0 indicates my unit is equiped with 15000# suspension springs in the rear. I called Jayco 4 business days ago (not counting the holiday) and never heard from them so I called them back today. They said the VIN number on record was not the one I had given them. I went and checked the drivers side door post and the sticker had the VIN on record at Jayco.

So, the wrong sticker was put above the visor so I did not know what RPO codes my unit had.

Jayco has the correct info and I asked if I had 15k springs or 19K springs. I have 15k springs as ordered by Jayco from GM.

Next I asked if I should have 15k or 19k spring in the unit. He said it came with 15k's but so many people have had problems with them as far as handling, bottoming sagging etc that Jayco has paid for the upgrade to heavier spring.

I asked if the heavier springs have any adverse affects on handling and he said no and that the ride is not necessarily harsher because springs are progressive in nature depending on the changing load.

I asked what the new models are coming equipped with and he said the 19k springs.

I do not think heavier springs change the height of the coach frame but I will ask that question again tomorrow. I will get the springs upgraded and go from there in my search for better handling. Stay tuned.

As an update to my suspension mods...I was under my coach Monday and saw that the newly installed Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer had broken in two. The shock shaft snapped and the spring was the only thing (besides the bolts on each end) holding it together.

I took it back to the shop that installed it (luckily 2 miles from where I store the rig) and besides saying "Hmmmm, Gee...wow" and so on...they removed it and have ordered me a new one.

It's really too bad that some units require thousands of dollars in upgrades to make them better drivers. If I was looking for a quality unit and saw that the factory took the time to actually test drive and upgrade the needed components that would really get my attention.

Harvey,

I feel I am getting lots of amenities for the price with my Seneca, spending a few extra bucks on handling seems to be well worth it.

This rig could easily log 100K + miles before showing any type of wear.

I chose the Seneca because of the ton of features that came standard when I compared it to other models that only had them as options.

We have had a 2006 Jayco Seneca 35GS and now have a 2009 Jayco 36MS. Both ride the same. I have never had any problems with either rig in regards to weight or load issues. Both rigs have driven as I expected.

There are so many factors involved from how much you load your RV to how much you fill the water tanks. Each has his preference. I never have filled my fresh water tank beyond 2/3 full and usually have the black and grey tanks dumped before moving to the next location or to home. That is probably one reason I have not seen or have had any issues like these.

I hope you get yours corrected the way you like it. Good luck.

Don't believe everything you read about these units needing thousands of dollars of band aids put on the suspension system. One persons idea of a bad driving vehicle is another persons sports car. A guy I know has a 34SS that has never had anything done to it including the 15K springs. He overloads it and pulls a trailer that is probably close to double the weight it should pull. He thinks it drives like a sports car compared to the Class A he had before. I told him about the 19K spring upgrade and the Koni shocks. He did neither as he is happy as is.
