What if the two RV service shops and stores in your town won't do (or at least don't seem interested in doing) 'custom' work?

Look for a gas fitter, that will do the job, instead of a RV place.
Probably be a lot cheaper, and faster too.

Jack, unless you are a certified gas fitter, I hope your kidding. Propane is nothing to mess around with folks, please have a professional do it.

Not certified Rodger!...although 3 years with a plumbing company running black gas pipe and copper under my belt...

Rodger I totally understand the 'let a professional do it' approach when it comes to things that can be a liability. My problem is when certified pros don't do something right or don't know what they are doing. I haven't decided if I'll plumb my conversion myself or let a professional do it. Either way I sure wanna get as much input, advice, and opinion as I can so that if I do hire a pro I won't be a complete idiot paying a complete idiot do something I could have done myself.
So let me guess Hit The Road Jack, you probably want me to bring the beer too. Ha!

If you do it yourself I would at least try and get a Certified Gas Fitter to sign off on it. My source is truly concerned about people doing this type of project, and he strongly advises against it. Now that I have expressed his, and my feelings I will butt out.

Hang in there K-mann, everybody needs to do their homework and start somewhere. I totally agree that you might get a "complete idiot" doing the work at a shop. Have it tested and be safe. VK

Hey thanks everybody for all the input. I'm really not trying to be an...you know what. I'm building this thing for fun and adventure so the last thing I want to do is have it blow up or break down in the middle of nowhere.

I am curious, as I am in the process of a DIY minimalist B build. Is there any reason not to use a rear hitch cargo carrier to transport a propane bottle and have a line/quick connect like I see for natural gas (like the way I have my BBQ hooked up to city gas at home)? (other than potentially doing a Ford Pinto if you get rear-ended hard enough...) Then just unplug it and remove when not using the vehicle for camping. Are there special rules for the type of propane bottles on travel trailers?
