I'd research the "LLY overheating" issues before I bought an 05 Duramax. At least know what you could be in for before signing up.

I have an LLY 05 Duramax. The only time you can get into problems is if you are towing at max gross weight on a hot day up a steep grade at max power. I have towed a 40' Carriage Commander 5th wheel (25K lbs on the scales for truck and camper loaded) with no problems whatsoever. However, just to avoid any issues, I added an aux radiator that now will permit max power on any grade without any heat problems. Bear in mind I have never overheated, but I added the extra radiator kit just for insurance. I don't believe you really would need it unless you are towing heavy in the mountains out west and were in a big hurry.

A big benefit of the LLY over the new models is the LLY will get better fuel mileage. Excluding the improperly sized radiator, I think the LLY is one of the better Duramax models on the road.

Of course, I might be biased....

Regards,

Glenn

WOW That looks like a lot of truck for the price. I am really happy with my truck. 22mpg on the hwy at 65mph empty. I am just a little bit over on weight and would like the safty factor of a dually. I would really like to have seating for 6 as I have three kids. I have a private party deal to trade my truck for a 07 mega cab drw laraime. about the same milage on both trucks. Just trying to figure out a fair price to pay for the difference.
