We are in Alpine Tx,and cannot get my local channels from the Ftworth-dallas area.I can get the programming fine from the 119 satalite.I have checked for the right zip code, set azimuth, skew, elevation, run ck switch.I get 75 reading on the 119,and 100 on the 110,and when I run ck switch,it comes up ok 110 odd even ,119 odd even. When I try to view a local channel,a box comes up telling me that satalite reception has been lost, please wait.It has been cloudy here for a couple of days, but would it just affect one satalite?
Thanks,
Peaeye

You cant watch local channels from more than 250 miles away. We have our congress to thank for that. There is a way around it. You can tell Dish you have moved to a new address and give them your new local address and you will get the network channels from the area you are in. They dont charge you anything. You can also sign up for distant networks if you travel a lot. I think its about $4 per network channel. You can choose between Atlanta or San Francisco. Its more money but you always have the channels.

Local channels are broadcast via a spot beam. If you are more than 150 - 200 miles from your home address, you will not be able to get local channels.

Haven't searched for a footprint map, but you are a long way from home to expect to see your locals. At least in DirecTV land

Well, there are about a thousand others before you who have asked the same quesiton
you can't get Texas stations this way but if you check with Dishnetwork they can give you the phone number for All American Direct Communactions LLC and they provide dish customers with Los Angles stations for a small additional fee.. Provided you meet the allowance requirements.
I won't go into those. I will say if your receiver is from you house
You don't qualify

Well,I called Dish, talked to somebody in pakistan I think. He told me they cannot send a signal for just this one receiver, that they would have to change my physical address, then when I told him I would not be here,in this location, but a few more days,he said they can't do anything. Its no big deal, but I am thinking about calling them again ,and asking some more question's,or am I beating a dead horse?

We all need to write our representatives and tell them how much we appreciate being sold out to the Broadcast lobbiest.

yes, a very dead horse.
and could somebody please explain why our representatives have sold us out because the sat. companies are spot beaming local channels? they sold us out because the cable companies wanted a monopoly on local channels, but I don't think that spot beaming entered into this.
thanks
