At the end this years trip we will be returning our rented MH to Calgary on 31st June prior to flying out on 2nd July. We have never been in Downtown Calgary on Canada Day before.

Question, does anything special take place downtown or is it quiet since all the stores are closed and everyone has gone camping?

Only 2 weeks to go!!

From my experience there maybe some events, but I believe everyone is resting for the next week and the Stampede parade

I always tried to travel on June 31st. It never was crowded on the highways and I hardly saw any other RVs that day either!

We're not being much help to the OP. The rental return won't be in downtown Calgary if that's what you are worried about. I've never been in Calgary on Canada Day but I can't imagine that they have a parade that close to the start of the Stampede. Calgary is all about the Stampede so I expect Canada Day is pretty quiet.

Yes, there are celebrations at both Olympic Plaza and Prince's Island Park, both downtown.

Here is a websitealthough it doesn't have any real info yet, you'll have to check back in a couple of weeks.

Have a great trip!!

Not much happens on Canada day in Calgary. They pretty much only have one thing to celebrate... eg: Stanley cups... the long ago olympics... etc...

They are still jealous of Edmonton being the Capital of Alberta...

(jokes!!!! I like cowtown!!!)
