West Marine has the ShurFlo 13 gpm macerator pump on sale May 15 - May 26 for $99.99, model 1936335

This should work for RV'ers, right?

It should be fine if you can adapt its input to you units output. I would try to aquire at least 3/4' hose for the output. 1' would be better. Good luck.

I think that you might have difficulty connecting this model to your sewer outlet. RV macerator pumps generally have the housing that allows you to install it inside a 3" hose.

Couldn't I just get a section of 1 1/2" hose to connect to the input of the pump and adapt it to a 3" bayonet connector ?

Is this going to be a permanent install, or a homemade "tank buddy"?

I have the FloJet model and it is of course a lot more expensive, but I think that once you make the necessary modifications to the West Marine macerator pump it may be worth the money to you.

An important feature of the FloJet model is the backflush connection right on the "funnel" adapter. That is where the wads of toilet paper will get clogged before it reaches the macerator. Even though my black tank has its own rinsing valve, it won't solve that issue.

Also, my FloJet can pump a long distance to the sewer... I have 100' of 5/8" rubber garden hose. I have no problem pumping that distance. The marine pump would not be designed to pump that far through that small of a hose.

I thought the pump was the same, just different connections, thanks.

Good point. If I were buying a pump today, I would see what the manufacturer had to say on that. Or maybe a parts breakdown would yield some information.
