I have a Weber Q, I preheat it and stick the food on. When I go to flip it the food will be stuck on the grate. Should I not preheat or spray something on it? What's the trick of not having the food stick to the grill grates?

I moisten a folded rag with cooking oil and wipe the grates down using tongs to keep my fingers safe.

Weber also has a high heat cooking spray you could use.

I spray the grates with Pam before I turn it on.

Pam makes a High Heat cooking spray that works ok.

The cooking BBQ shows on TV use a papertowel dipped into vegetable oil and using tongs wipe down the grill, this acutually covers it better than the spray.

BTW:
This BBQ TV show is THE BEST I've found, a must for obsessed BBQ'ing RV'ers.

Spray the grates with Pam before it is heated. This helps a lot.

I wipe my with oil before I heat it up and then again when adding dry food. Good marbled steaks seem happy with the first oil, but a skinless chicken doesn't. I don't clean my my grill, I wire brush it and if it needs more I wipe it with a wet rag while its still pretty warm. The Weber grill will season and should be treated accordingly, IMO.
I've never had any luck with the sprays, heavy duty or otherwise. I don't think they can stand the heat of a grill.

One trick with fish is to oil the fish with some good olive oil and seasonings. Get the grill hot. Place the fish by hand and in a sliding motion keep the fish sliding back and forth until it sears and will not stick. Flip it over and do the same thing after a minute or two.
