Barn Cat has a new buddy - Eli the cockatiel ! Our friend here asked if we could keep him a couple of days while she's in the middle of moving everything to storage or into her trailer (she's the new manager of thee campground we're staying in.) We have plenty of room and I set up a small table (think church tables only smaller) with Eli's cage on one end stuck up in the corner next to 2 windows so he can see out and it's stable. The table is very sturdy and can't be knocked over by Barney. So Barn's sitting beside Eli and is FASCINATED with this bird. But Eli's just as fascinated. I now have no fear of Barn being bored! Since Barn's been declawed he can't reach in and hurt Eli...they touch nose to beak and it's SO CUTE! Eli will NOT be getting out of the cage. We were going to take him permanently but decided against it - this 2 day visit might change our minds!

I can see barn now licking his chops wondering how good that bird would taste if he could get him,not many cats would make a bird a friend, cats are natural hunters ,better keep a close eye on them for awhile it may work out ok you never know.

Oh don't worry, we've been watching him all day - he can't get to him at all - can't tip the cage over - it's very secure. Barney leans against the cage and goes to sleep and Eli picks at his fur - they are BOTH having fun. I think Eli was bored before coming here. His owner has another bird that they work with a lot, but not Eli - he just sits there. But now he has something to keep him busy. Of course after a nap Barney gets all excited again about Eli and almost says "WOW! What's THAT?" like he's never seen him before...DUH! That's why I say all cats are dumb! Stupid cat! But funny!
